Simon Says - Ice Cold

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
ICE COLD
I'm beginning to feel that Christmas is sneaking up on me and with gift card holders for the youngsters in the family still to make, I looked out my Tim Holtz, Ranger Ink, Stampers Anonymous and Sizzix supplies for a production line kind of a morning.

I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to create 3.1/4" x 5.1/4" panels and added a snow slope at the bottom cut from masking paper.
I smooshed a Custom Blend ink pad - and a little extra Speckled Egg Distress Oxide on to the craft mat on my Glass Media Mat, sprayed with water and laid the panels into the ink, dried and tapped back in to pick up the remaining ink droplets. I repeated the process until all 5 panels were coloured. I removed the masks, inked the sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Christmastime 3 and the snowflakes from Retro Flakes with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold Embossing Powder.
I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Papercut Christmas 2 snowman from Distress Watercolor, Idea-ology BlackOut Kraftstock and card coloured with Speckled Egg and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks
Once assembled, I inked the edges lightly with Gathered Twigs Distress ink using a mini round blending tool, added stripes on his scarf with a Black Fineliner pen and fixed them to the panels using Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I put a small amount of Distress Mica Flakes into a plastic cup, added a few drops of Tim Holtz Gilded Alloy Alcohol Ink and stirred until the flakes were coloured.
I added Distress Collage Medium Matte underneath the snowmen using a paintbrush, sprinkled with the Distress Mica Flakes and brushed off any excess once the Collage Medium had dried.
To create the gift card holder on the inside of the cards, I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to the same size as the front panel and coloured with Distress Inks in the same way. I fixed one of the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Circle Thinlits to the panel and placed the top cutting plate on my Sizzix Big Shot just below the centre of the die.
The section of the die not covered by the cutting plate will not cut, leaving an open tab on the panel to tuck in the gift card. To finish I inked lightly around the edges of the panels and fixed to 4" x 6" white card blanks using Distress Collage Medium Matte.

Woohoo, one more task ticked off the Christmas list, still 99 to go.
