What a relief...

Hi folks...I'm sharing a little fun project that had the cubbyhole crew running around in circles and a certain someone questioning her sanity...

you know that feeling you get sometimes that a project needs a little extra something to finish it off and I had the very thing...Tim's Holiday Flash Cards...or so I thought...

72 Mini Cards with Christmas words all in their own little packet...just like a set of playing cards 

BUT where the devil are they...we've been on all hands to the pump...search and rescue mode and so far it's all been in vain...can't find the little blighters anywhere. But hold on a minute...I'm racking my brains...can I remember them arriving in the cubbyhole...can I even remember buying them or did I never get round to it...are they just a "this is driving me nuts" figment of my imagination"...am I losing my marbles.

Thank the lord for little distant memories of making a card with Tim's gorgeous new Layered Snowflake Die and YES...YES...YES...a flash card and after a trawl through the archives...I found it...

So it's official...what a relief...I'm NOT bonkers and now that their presence in the building has been confirmed...the hunt will be on...no stone will be left unturned to locate the naughty blighters but NOT this weekend...I've got a hot date with my lovely Kath's Klub girls at The Papeterie today and a fun day and a great big hug to look forward to from my lovely buddy Ken Oliver who's demo-ing at The Papeterie on Sunday. In the meantime I've set the resident Retriever...the clue's in the name...the task of sniffing out the goods but unless they're located near anything edible...I fear it may be a lost cause.

Gold Stars and Glitter...

Hi folks...it's Friday and another week bites the dust...the workshop kits for tomorrow are packed up ready to be loaded in the car under the supervision of my trusty side-kick...

who's quite unaware that he's been right in the thick of the crafty action again...he doesn't look in the mirror so has no idea that he's been sprinkled with some magic Festive Berries sparkle and it's hugs galore for Fat Club's Star Dieter...woohoo the Furry Boy has reached his 38KG target weight and there was much hooping and a-hollering...gold stars and treats all round from the vet staff yesterday.

and of course I didn't escape a covering of the old sparkly stuff either after yesterday's "Glitter Glitter Everywhere" Fiskars Festive project crafty session...

so by the time we head up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire...the stair carpet and the bedroom floor will probably be sparkled too but nothing that a hot shower and a whizz round with Mr Dyson won't put right.

The work stuff is almost up to date so I'm bunking off for a kick up my heels day with the Friday girls who are dab hands at spotting the tiniest bit of glitter...yes that little bit on your nose that shines like a sparkly beacon and I wonder where we'll be heading today...to be honest the weather is so dark and gloomy...I'd be quite happy to settle for lunch...lots of top up coffees and a good old blether chilling out in a country pub with a roaring log fire but my shop 'til you drop buddies will probably have other ideas.

Christmas Cracker Box Tutorial...

Hi folks...Christmas is just around the corner and if you're anything like me...you need to get a wiggle on with some Christmas makes so I'm sharing a tutorial today for "Inspiration Journal"...how to make a cute Christmas Cracker Box to hold some sweet festive treats using Tim's Distress Spray Stains...Texture Paste...Stencils and images from the Styled Woodlands Stamp Set...

Trim white cardstock to measure 8.¼” x 11"

On the short side score at ½” 3” and 5.½”

On the long side score at 3” and 9”

Cut away the 2 outer panels.  Mark the centre of the middle panel, score from the edges to the centre and trim to leave a small flap at each side which will create the bottom of the box

Cut out  2-1" squares from cardstock to use as templates...line the square up with the scored lines and mark with a pencil. Mark the centre of the other square and trim to create a triangle...use to mark the zig zag effect at the top of the box. Cut out with a craft knife and erase any pencil marks.

Fix redline tape to the flaps of the box at this stage which will protect them from the Distress Spray Stain

Now that we've got the mechanics out of the way it's time for the fun part..spritz Iced Spruce Distress Spray Stain on to your craft mat. 

Pick up the colour with a baby wipe and swipe on to the box with circular motions until covered...then dry with a heat tool...

Spritz with Iced Spruce, Brushed Pewter and Picket Fence drying between each layer until you are happy with the colour...

Cut a piece of white cardstock to fit across the bottom edge of the box, score at 3” and 5.½”, tear to create an uneven edge, stitch backwards and forwards to create texture. Fix to the box with redline tape.

Stamp the reindeer from Styled Woodlands with Potting Soil Archival Ink onto a piece of white cardstock 3 times.

Cut out the reindeer leaving a small border all round and fix in place. Stamp the pine cone branches at the neck of the box.

Use Texture Paste and the Speckles Stencil to create a snowy effect

Add dots of Glossy Accents to the Pine Cone Branches and create lines between the reindeer and Sprinkle with Festive Berries Distress Glitter

Cut out a small tag, stamp the pine cone branch with Potting Soil and the sentiment with Red Geranium Archival Ink, ink around the edges with Iced Spruce Distress Ink

 Gather the neck of the box together and tie with Red Ribbon, decorate with the tag and jingle bells

It's Tag Time...

Hi folks...can you believe it's the second last tag for "12 Tags of 2014" already...a tradition I hope will continue into 2015 and as always Tim shared more special "why didn't I think of that" fun techniques on this Autumn beauty...

here's my take on the tag with a little diversion here and there...

wow the sparkly effect on the embossed leaf using a sheet of Vintage Foil is amazing...

I love Autumn...the season when Nature in all her glory shares the most amazing colour palette...a visit to New England in The Fall is definitely on my bucket list but my neck of the woods is pretty spectacular and beautiful too...

Ballater...a place I love and visit often with the Friday girls...

and if I work my crafty socks off...the intrepid ladies who lunch may well be heading that way for this week's outing. A spritz of Antique Linen is going to blend right in with his golden coat but does he realise that the next layer is Evergreen Bough.

What A Difference A Day Makes...

Hi folks..you're no doubt familiar with that old saying "what a difference a day makes"...well in my case it's been about 10 days but who's counting...I'm finally back on track...most of the aches and pains have disappeared and it looks like the old body will live to tell another tale. I won't be running any marathons that's for sure...nor will I be tempted to start lugging the cubbyhole units around and grabbing a paintbrush to complete the cubbyhole make-over...lesson learned in that department...instead I'm back in crafty mode...a far more leisurely pursuit I'm sure you'll agree.
I've got the kitting for Saturday's workshops to finish up...a project for Fiskars December Newsletter to nail and then I'll be having a rummage around in the stash of all things Tim Holtz to get this month's tag for "12 Tags of 2014" in the bag...

because woohoo more happy mail has arrived from Craft Obsessions...

Big thank yous to the lovely David and Brenda for my belated birthday pressie...the gorgeous new papers from Ken Oliver and more of my "can't live without" new addiction...Stick It...a must have for all those intricate dies.

Information Update...

Hi Everyone...a little information update for the lovely folks who come along to my Kath's Klub workshops at The Papeterie.  The workshops originally planned for the 22nd November were moved to the 6th of December to make way for Ken Oliver's "Art At The Edge" workshops...unfortunately Ken's workshops have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and will be...fingers crossed...rescheduled for Spring next year.
Just to let you all know that Kath's Klub will now go ahead on Saturday...any deposits already paid for the 6th December can be used on Saturday...big apologies for any confusion caused.

And for all the crafty folks who were very disappointed to be missing out on a day with the very talented Ken Oliver...me included...the good news is that KEN...WILL BE at The Papeterie on Sunday from 11.00am-4.00pm with some fabulous demos using his amazing new product...Stick It...a must have store cupboard item for all you die-cutting enthusiasts. The weather forecast ain't looking good...dull dreary and wet apparently so why not pop along and join in the fun.

Christmas Cuteness...

Hi folks...crikey where did the weekend go...before you know it's Monday morning and the start of another working week for most folks including me...I need to get back in the swing and make inroads into the crafty list but first I'm sharing my 2nd November DT project for Inspiration Journal and I've been mixing it up using Tim Holtz fabulous Distress Spray Stains and Markers alongside Avery Elle Stamps and Dies and the cutest Christmas stamps ever from Penny Black...
