It's Hogmanay

Morning folks...after all the Christmas hullabaloo I've kind of lost track of the days which is not an unusual occurrence in my world...working from home I often have to stop and ponder which day of the week it is but even I know it's the last day of December...the last day of 2012...yes it's New Year's Eve or in my neck of the woods Hogmanay...at the stroke of midnight it will be time to say goodbye to the old year and look forward to 2013.
I think I'll be welcoming in the New Year in the company of an unwelcome first footer... the dreaded cold is back...the fuzzy head and sneezing for Scotland which at my age presents added complications in the bladder department are a dead give-away...a present that definitely wasn't on my Christmas List. You know what they say "feed a cold...starve a fever" and although the body computer is already hitting meltdown with the recent food intake levels...I'll give it my best shot...no way am I missing out on the big end of the year traditions in this house...Hogmanay Steak Pie and New Year's Day Roast Beef Dinners...if only I could resist all the trimmings but I just can't say NO when it comes to Oatmeal Stuffing and Yorkie Puds...not forgetting the ladelfuls of Onion Gravy...YUMMY
But today's going to be a cosy jammie day...a great excuse to dodge that old age Hogmanay tradition of cleaning the house from top to bottom...can't really see the point...dust is dust and who cares which year it took up residence...instead I'll be chilling out on the sofa sorting out the 2013 calendar...transferring all the birthdays from one year's calendar to the next.
And then we come to another bonkers tradition that I won't be taking part in...the New Year Resolutions...to be honest there is absolutely no point in me even attempting to go down that road...over the years I've had to admit that willpower is not one of my talents and the lack of same has my stomach already groaning at the thought of more days of feasting.
We'll be back at midnight to raise a glass and ring in the New Year with you all
Hugs Kath & Buddy xxx

  5. Happy New Year and I hope you feel better soon. I totally agree about resolutions. If you want to change something why wait til tonight. Just do it! Otherwise my guess is it wasn't so important and won't be done. Or maybe that's my excuse for a lack of willpower? x

  9. Oh take care Kath & hopefully that cold can be left behind with 2012. Maybe you could train Buddy to eat your little goodies before you manage to get your hands on them......... on second thoughts Buddy would need three runs per day ..........

  14. Sorry to hear you've got a nasty cold Kath but if you can still eat well that's got to be a good thing. And I have to say I'm with you about the traditional cleaning. Certainly not a tradition in this house! Besides I was working till 4pm.

    Have a lovely evening.
