Christmas Give-Away

Hi folks..seeing as December is only a day or two away...it's time to share some Christmas Magic...

Scentsicles very kindly sent me two packs of their Scented Tree Ornaments...one for me and one for you. Scentsicles are a much-loved scented ornament from the US that has launched in the UK...the perfect stocking filler or gift for the home this festive season.
Apparently 67% of UK homes now opt for an artificial tree and ScentSicles ensure that you get that fresh-cut real Christmas Tree aroma in your home...simply hang them on your tree or tuck them into wreaths or garlands to enjoy 30 days of that nostalgic Christmas scent...they are made from all natural biodegradable paper sourced from sustainably managed forests...infused to the core with pure fragrance offering a greener way to scent your home.
All you have to do is leave me a comment on this post before 8pm on Friday 5th December and I'll announce the lucky winner on Saturday.
Just in case you are not the lucky winner...Scentsicles are available from John Lewis and leading Garden Centres across the UK for £6 and come in 4 different scents...White Winter Fir...Christmas Time Spruce...Snow Berry Wreath and Two Dashes of Cinnamon.
And while we're on the subject of US customs...crikey I woke up yesterday morning thinking I'd moved across the pond...hundreds of e-mails in my Inbox with Black Friday offers from UK retailers...excuse me but since when did we have Black Friday shopping in this country...UK retailers jumping on the "any old ploy to get us to part with more money" bandwagon and what do you know...it ended up as another "ashamed to be British" fiasco...crazy crowds queueing outside stores in the dead of night...websites crashing and stores having to close due to staff and customers being assaulted...the usual despicable behaviour by the moron minority all for a so called bargain.
Everything that's wrong with today's society...greed/materialism/overspending/gotta have it whether you can afford it or not and total disrespect for fellow human beings and I ain't too happy with the weather either...is it ever going to stop raining.
Until tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx

  1. Even here in the US, not all of us (me) take part in Black Friday madness. I just can't bring myself to partake in the maniacal behavior of crazy people looking for crazy bargains. Hadn't heard of Scenticles before, but it sounds like a great idea. Nice of the company to give you some to share.

  2. Oops...make that Scentsicles. I hate when I make spelling errors in my comments!

  3. What a great idea to have the scent of a real tree at Christmas. We gave up on having a real tree a quite a few years ago - I was fed up with still finding pine needles in the carpet in August! I miss the Christmassy smell though.

Totally agree with you about Black Friday! I'd planned to go Christmas shopping today, until I remembered it was Black Friday, so I stayed at home and made some more Christmas cards instead. Watching the news tonight, I'd made the right decision! xx

  4. I'm with you on the whole Black Friday fiasco Kath, it's as bad as Boxing Day sales, which I also avoid like the plague!

I hadn't heard of Sentsicles but they sound lovely. Hugs, Julie xx

  5. Those Scentsicles sound wonderful, so thank you for the opportunity to win some. We gave up on having real trees many years ago because of the dreadful summer heat here in Australia (often 40oC+!!!). Real trees just 'cook'.

I had never heard of the Black Friday thing before this year, except if a Friday and the 13th of the month coincided, then people go mad buying lottery tickets!! It sounds like Boxing Day sales, which like Julie, I also avoid!

    Hugs,
    Jennifer. x

  6. Did you see some of the frenzied scenes on the TV? Mind you I think they were deliberately provoking it in the shops, with the packs of reporters zooming in on people, one of the shops they showed even had cheerleaders egging the crowds on! I reckon we in the crafting community ought to declare today Sparkly Saturday!

  7. Those scentsicles sound brilliant - I'm always trying various candles to get a proper tree scent, but obviously you have to wait for them to get burning when you've been out - this is the solution. The whole Black Friday thing in the UK is a nightmare - just as with Halloween we take an American tradition and it morphs into something greed-driven. Can we not remain the UK, instead of a US clone?

  8. Hi Kath the scentsicles sound great and I too have never heard of them, so thanks for a chance to win one to you and the company.
Agree with you on Black Friday debacle, absolutely ridiculous as is the Trick or Treat and Halloween that seems to have taken off. X

  9. I'd love to win the scentsicles! and totally agree with you about the black Friday debacle - what's wrong with the good old British January Sale? Mary x

  10. I totally agree with you Kath, people go absolutely mad for a supposed 'bargain' at all costs, regardless of others. Thanks for the chance of winning these scented sticks called Scentsicles, I have seen them in our local range store. Enjoy your week end Kath. x

  12. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I think Scentsicles sound a great idea. We always used to have a real tree, but they are just too expensive now.
I totally agree about Black Friday. It was awful out there. I had to go and collect something from M&S, and also buy my mum a birthday present to give her at the weekend. I won't forget the date next year, and will avoid the shops! Have great weekend.
And whilst I'm moaning - how can you have Black Friday weekend?!

  13. Kath, you have summed up just how I feel about this Black Friday thing and what the world is coming too!!! watching the TV last night and seeing what folk were buying I justbthought - credit cards maxed out, this months wages gone, next week they will be saying they need to use the food bank as they have no money. Not all but a good few, where has the days gone when if you didn't have the money you went without. Sorry on soap box, it just makes me mad. I like the sound of these " Sentsicles" but husband gets terrible headaches with these sort of things. Hazel x

  14. I saw these on This Morning the other day, such a great idea! Oh and I know what you mean about the e-mails, it was driving me mad all day! xxx

  15. These sound lovely Kath. Thank you for the opportunity to try this novel way of scenting the home.
Emails...they have been arriving for the last 2 weeks and there were more this morning. There is nothing that I need that desperately that I would even consider taking part in such madness - the scenes on the news were awful. I spent a lovely day with friends over at the Craft Village spending some of my birthday money and was lucky to be travelling in the opposite direction to the jams caused by traffic returning from some of the large retail areas near us.
The weather can't seem to make up its mind down here - chilly over night, foggy mornings, lots of rain but actually not that chilly during the daytime...ho hum - normal British winter I suppose.

  17. I don't think that is just a UK thing, people go bonkers here in Sweden too if they think they can make a bargain of some sorts. Really sad!

  18. These Scentsciles sound like a great idea. I totally agree about Black Friday & blame the shops for trying to brainwash us all. It's the little things in life that make us happy.
Thanks for a chance to win Hazel P x

  19. The whole black friday thing is ridiculous. I for one decided to go the other way, and participated in the "Flood the streets with art" event, where folks from all over the world abandoned some of their creations for free for someone to find and take home. Much more exciting than spending hours in queues to buy stuff I don't need anyhow! lol.

  20. Christmas tree scent? Never heard of that before!

The Black Friday bargains are starting in Finland - it's ridicolous! We don't celebrate Black Friday here. The last friday of October is national DO-NOT-BUY-ANYTHING-DAY here ;)

  21. Yes it was a sad day yesterday - I was appalled by some of what I saw on the news. Even today the Black Friday emails are still coming through - it seems like it is a black weekend!!

Thanks for sharing these, hadn't heard about them and they seem to be very reasonably priced

  22. Hi Kath, horrible day again, roll on springtime! Loved your New York photos, never managed to get there but love to see the buildings. Haven't looked at the sales, at an age now when you know it's not a bargain unless you really need it and my shelves are full of unused bargains. Yesterday I spent my pennies filling a trolley with food for the folks with no money to fill their bellies never mind shelves. The jars with the scented sticks are so cute, haven't seen them anywhere so far. Enjoy your weekend Kath...Trish

  23. Hi Kath, and Buddy too,
Scentsicles sound a lovely way to fragrance our homes, especially the artificial, but lovely, Christmas tree.
I totally agree with you about 'Black Friday', it's a nonsense we can do without.

  25. Hi Kath. I'm 100% against Black Friday. It's another American 'tradition' that we don't need. I was disgusted at the scenes of chaos on the news and I'm surprised there were no serious injuries. Down here in Cornwall we're more laid back and I don't think it was quite as bad as up country but one bus company cancelled all their services to one of the ASDA stores as there was chaos in the carpark so they couldn't get in lol. One of my neighbours has had her decorations up for over two weeks now, which is way too early imho, my tree is still in the roof lol.
What a fantastic gift you are offering, kath. That's really so kind of you. Whichever of us is lucky to win will have a great smelling tree :). x

  26. I hear ya! I have absolutely nothing against the USA - I lived in California for several years, my boys were born out there and one of them lives in San Jose right now but....I never did the Trick or Treat thing and am, like you, ashamed when I see the near-riots on the news for Black Friday! Oh well, we do get some good things coming this way too, I guess :)

  27. Thank you Kath for a chance to take part in your fabulous giveaway Scentsicles the fragrances sound the ideal solution for an artifical tree l love real trees and the fragrance they give off but not practical for me at the moment with a log burner the needles would fall before Christmas day from the heat so again thank you for a chance to take part x

  28. Those scentcicles sound delightful, I do love the smell of a Christmas tree but that lovely arose never seems to last for long.
On the subject of Black Friday I was amazed to hear them advertising "vendredi noire" deals on French radio yesterday....never come across it in France before and they are still holding out against Sunday opening so it was quite a shock!!!

  29. oooh, I love the sound of these tree decoration scents... such a lovely idea! I have an articficial tree - which i have had for years (since our cats shimmied up and broke the last tree!) lol... would make very good use of one of these! Thanks for the opportunity to win one! xx

  30. What a fab idea, would love one of these, love Christmas smells. I agree re yesterday, apalling behaviour all for cheap TVs which are rubbish anyway. I couldn't believe all the emails either, how much stuff do people need.

  31. I am with you Kath, we went out to do our 'normal' food shopping and ended up coming home, it was madness even in our small town!

Scentsicles sound lovely! You are a very generous lady. Hope the weather improves too... Hugs, Anne xx

  34. Hi Kath and Buddy,
Really how much more rubbish from the States do we need?
I'm amazed no one was killed looking at the behaviour of some people and all in the name of getting a bargain.

The Scentsicles sound a really good idea, since I cannot deal with the pine needles but do LOVE the smell of a proper tree, thanks for sharing these goodies.

    Happy crafting,
    Jackie

  35. that is too funny - I guess if you can not beat them join them?
My husband would love Scentsicles - he misses the live tree smell - although the last few years that we did have real trees they did not seem to carry a scent ... Thanks for the fun.

  36. Those Black Firday scenes of sale madness reminds me of the old days when we had proper sales.
It's only a bargain if you need it.

Those tree scents sound like a nice idea. Havn't had a real tree for years. We are wondering how Teddy will get on with a tree and all those enticing decorations to play with.
Thanks for the chance to win.

    Hugs Carol x

  37. Ah yes Jackie Elliott, I am US citizen and I can assure you that what you see on the news about the "rubbish" in America is not a true representation of our people. The minority not the majority. I take insult in your comment, this fine blog of Kath's is for all of us to enjoy her craft. Rubbish, indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think I have ever participated in "Black Friday" here in the USA. The whole idea seems so silly to me, plus I find myself doing more and more shopping on the world wide web. The Scentsicles sound like a great idea. I don't believe I have seen them, but would sure enjoy a house filled with those wonderful scents. Give Buddy a scratch behind his ears for me.

  39. I grew up (in America) with a real tree every year but now living in the UK, it's only artificial so would love to have the real tree smell once again. And I NEVER shopped on Black Friday there so won't do it here either...lol. Thanks for the chance to win and love your blog!

  40. Hi Kath - I think the whole black Friday thing is just ridiculous & I can't even be bothered with normal sales let alone that debacle!!!! Anyhoo the Denticle's sound fab, we always had real trees when I was wee, so it would be lovely to have a substitute.... Take care & hugs for the bold Buddy xxx
