Simon Says... A Walk On The Dark Side

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's Heavy Metal challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

Wow can you believe it's October already...the first challenge of a new month and this month the Design Team are showcasing products from Tim Holtz. You don't have to use these products to join in but if you have them and we're pretty sure you will, we would love to see what you make with them.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Wanda Hentges aka Art By Wanda as our October Guest Designer, if you haven't visited Wanda's blog before you are in for a real treat so pop over and say Hi.

The theme this week is...
A WALK ON THE DARK SIDE
we are challenging you to think of all things Halloween or to use dark colours on your project...

I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Monstrous, Scared Silly and Skulls and Cobwebs stamp sets to make a MONSTROUS-LY SCARY - OPEN IF YOU DARE Halloween Treat Bag...

I started off by painting a Kraft Bag with Black Gesso, trimmed paper from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Halloween Stash Pad to be slightly smaller than the front of the bag and fixed to white card with Ranger Distress Collage Medium. I coloured the panel with Seedless Preserves and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks using a blending tool, stamped the cobweb background from Skulls and Cobwebs randomly with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger White Detail Embossing Powder. I used the Crossed Layering Stencil with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to add detail to the background and stamped the sentiment from Monstrous with Black Archival ink.
I stamped the Monstrous images on to Distress Watercolor card, coloured with Distress Markers using the Ranger Detailer Brush and fussy cut.
and the sentiments from Scared Silly on to scraps of the Idea-ology Halloween paper, coloured with Seedless Preserves and Peeled Paint Distress Oxides using Versamark ink and heat embossed with the same white embossing powder as before.
I cut around the sentiments and applied Black Soot Distress Paint to the edges, fixed them in place along with the Monstrous images and added Idea-ology Halloween Remnant Rubs...
I scuffed up the edges of the panel with Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, applied Black Soot Distress Paint to the edges and fixed the panel to the front of the bag. I added strips of Cheesecloth around the top of the bag and a few pieces here and there to the panel and the sides of the bag using Distress Collage Medium Matte ( the perfect adhesive for the job and Ranger need to bring this amazing product out in 2 Gallon buckets, just saying) and added an Idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon double bow...
coloured with Seedless Preserves Distress Spray Stain...
I added an Idea-ology Halloween Word Key, highlighted with Picket Fence Distress Crayon...
I coloured Tissue Paper with Peeled Paint Distress Spray Stain which on reflection, as you can see by the colour of my hand, was perhaps not the brightest idea in the world but hey nothing that the Ranger Craft Scrubbie didn't sort out and once it was dry I popped it through my paper shredder.
I filled the bag with lots of Halloween Sweet Treats added the tissue paper and left over scraps of cheesecloth on top...
and surprisingly or not, it just so happens there were some treats left over which are now snuggled up in the cubbyhole treat jar...
which, if you are a fan of treats from Bassetts, you will recognise as a giant Liquorice Allsort, my favourite favourite sweets.
Tim Holtz has been sharing amazing projects using products from his Sizzix Alterations, Stampers Anonymous and Idea-ology Halloween collections in a 2017 Inspiration Series over on his blog...
