I think I'm addicted...

Hi folks...after mentioning in a previous post that the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stitched Ovals Thinlits would be great for making Shaker Ornaments, I just had to give it a go. And stand by your beds and get ready for a shocking confession...who knew that this No 1 fan of Tim Holtz/Distress inky edges would now be addicted to making CUTE shakers. Of course, the blame lies entirely with Mr H and Sizzix for the gorgeous collection of Holiday dies this year and for providing the perfect little machine to cut them all...die-cutting all those teeny weeny bits and pieces was a piece of cake with my new Sidekick best friend.  However, hubby is not best pleased to hear we may have to buy a bigger tree to accommodate this new ornament obsession.
I started off die-cutting 12 Stitched Oval Frames from white cardstock and one from Silver Metallic Kraftstock with Stick-it attached to the front ready for it's overcoat of Chistmas glitter. The good thing about using layers of frames is that there is no need for 3D foam and making sure that it is perfectly sealed.
I die-cut the base from white cardstock which will be the background for the ornament and 2 from acetate using the larger of the dies...
I used the slopes die from Home From the Holidays to cut 2 snowbanks and rounded off the bottoms with the Stitched Ovals Die...

I coloured the background with Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans Distress inks and flicked on some water droplets to create a little bit of a snowy sky...
fixed the first snowbank in place and attached silver seed beads and small sequins to the background using Ranger Mult Medium Matte...
I layered up 5 frames and added the die cut house, trees and fence from Snowglobe 2, the trees from Home For The Holidays and stars from Winter Wonderland. I fixed 3D foam at the bottom where the second snowbank will be (this will ensure that this layer of loose sequins will stay in the top half of the shaker) added the sequins and seed beads and fixed the first acetate piece in place with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.
I layered up another 5 frames and repeated the process of adding another snowbank, house, trees and fence, more sequins followed by the last piece of acetate. I then added a further two frames on top....
I removed the Stick-It from the Silver Metallic Kardstock frame and sprinkled with Nuvo Snow Glow Sparkle Dust. I fixed the frame in place, added stars and a moon to the front of the acetate and the frame...
and finished off with an Idea-ology Silver Metallic Trimmings Hanger and Bow.
I should have altered the title of this blog post because there's no two doubts about it...I'm definitely addicted and will be back tomorrow to share Round 2 of my new Shaker Ornaments Obsession..
Hugs Kath xxx
