Simon Says...It's A Stitch Up

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
IT'S A STITCH UP
I gave an old tattered notebook a bit of a make-over to keep track of all the things us girls have to do to make sure that Christmas runs smoothly...
and with the help of the fabulous products from Tim Holtz...scraps of paper from the Idea-ology Christmas Mini Stash Paper, Stampers Anonymous Swirly Snowflakes, Sizzi Retro Merry Christmas Thinlits and a little bit of stitching using Eclectic Elements thread, my "Christmas may be a disaster without it" planner will be sorted...
This project was inspired by the pile of tags I made while I was playing with my new best friend...the amazing Tim Holtz/Sizzix Sidekick...
I started off with a panel of the black plaid paper and added a torn strip of the script paper to the bottom but it wasn't quite wide enough for the front of the notebook so I added strips of the red polka dot and script paper. I stamped the Swirly Snowflakes with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White Detail Powder, used the Tim Holtz Craft Pick to make holes at the centre of the snowflakes and stitched with red thread to create accents.
I die cut Christmas from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Retro Merry Christmas Thinlits from red Classic Kraft Stock 3 times and once from white cardstock, layering them up slightly offset to create dimension.
I used the Starry Layering Stencil and the Craft Pick to create holes at the points of the stars on the background and stitched with red Eclectic Elements thread...
And not forgetting the tag that inspired me, I fixed it to the edge of the panel, looked out my sewing machine and added 2 rows of rather wonky in places stitching around the edges and a strip of zig-zag stitching between the paper strips...
I decided that the sequins I had added were not blingy enough so I managed to remove them and add self adhesive red gems from my stash...
and now the Christmas preparations can begin...
