Tim Holtz Holiday Inspiration Series - We Can Build A Snowman Shaker Card

Hi folks, today I'm sharing a shaker box card I made for the Tim Holtz 2017 Holiday Inspiration Series using this absolutely adorable snowman from the Tattered Christmas stamp set which is probably my favourite of this year's Christmas release and while I was making this card, how lucky were you not to be in the cubbyhole because to get in the festive spirit I had Michael Buble playing full blast on the CD player and was singing along (or frightening all the cats in the neighbourhood) to that delightful Christmas song...Walking in a Winter Wonderland...

In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No man
But you can do the job
when you're in town

I started off by die cutting 8 frames from white cardstock and one from the sentiment paper from the Idea-ology Mini Christmas Stash Paper using the largest and next size down of the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stitched Rectangles Thinlits and inked around the edges of the sentiment paper frame with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink.
I used the inside section of the sentiment paper frame to create the background and the cardstock sections to create the snowbanks. I  coloured the sentiment paper and the edges of the snow banks with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink and fixed to a piece of white cardstock the same size as the larger frames. I stamped the trees from the Great Outdoors stamp set and the Tattered Snowman with Ground Espresso Archival Ink on to the background and added sequins fixed with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I stamped the snowman again on to Distress Watercolor card with Vintage Photo Distress ink and Red Geranium Archival Ink and used the detailer brush to pull in some of the colour on the snowman to create shading. I coloured his nose with Spiced Pumpkin Distress Marker and fussy cut his hat.
I stamped the sentiment from Tattered Christmas on to Distress Watercolor card with Red Geranium Archival ink, fussy cut, inked around the edge with Vintage Photo and fixed to the background with 3D foam tape.
I prepped a piece of Heat Resistant Acetate with a powder tool to remove any static and stamped the stars and snow flurries image from Great Outdoors with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger's Super Fine White Embossing Powder. I fixed the acetate to the back of the sentiment paper frame and layered up the rest of the frames fixing them with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I added Ranger Wonder Tape around the edge of the frame, sprinkled in some sequins and Distress Rock Candy Glitter and placed the background section on top.
I fixed the snowman on top of the acetate along with Fluted Stars coloured with Picket Fence Distress Paint, silver Metallic Trimmings Ribbon coloured with Cracked Pistachio Spray Stain, lightened with a spritz of water and added Silver Tiny Bells.
I fixed the shaker box frame to a card blank covered wth the red polka dot paper from the Christmas Paper Stash...
You could, of course, make this the front of a notebook or the lid of a gift box and I had a little lightbulb moment while I was typing up this post...you could make some Christmas ornaments to hang on your tree using the same techniques with the different images from Tattered Christmas using the Stitched Oval Thinlits and if I manage to fit that crafty project into the list of things to do before Christmas, I'll share them with you.
And just in case you missed any of the projects from Week 2, you can go check them all out on Tim's Blog
Make sure you check Tim's Facebook and Instagram to see the week's projects from all the designers, you don't want to miss any of them and Tim will be sharing a recap of Week 3 on his BLOG on Saturday.
I'll be back tomorrow to share a project that's been on my Christmas Make List forever and woohoo...finally I found the time and it's done.
Happy Christmas Crafting
