Home Tweet Home...

Hi my friends, it's Friday, the end of a busy week for me, not I hasten to add, making stuff in the cubbyhole but giving the utility room a fresh coat of paint, that room in the house where there is barely room to swing a cat, let alone manoeuvre a step ladder around. But hey ho, it's done, another task ticked off that never ending list and now I'm really looking forward to heading back to my happy place and tackling a more much fun list.
Today I'm sharing the Home Tweet Home project I made for Creativation 2020 and the Facebook Live launch of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 2 using Brickwork 3D Texture Fade and Feathered Friends Thinlits shipping in April and AlphanumericTiny Type, Cut Out Leaves and Pattern Repeat Thinlits from Chapter 1. If you missed the Facebook Live, you can check out all the fabulous new products and inspirational samples over on Tim's Blog HERE

I began by trimming enough Distress Watercolor card panels to cover an Idea-ology Vignette Tray and Vignette Panel. I spritzed the card with water and ran through my Sizzix Big Shot using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Brickwork 3D Texture Fade. The texture and detail is amazing, so life like, just like a brick wall. I spritzed each panel with Rusty Hinge, Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Oxide sprays, spritzed with water and left them to dry. I repeated again, holding the panels upright, spritzing with water and letting the spray run down into the crevices. I adhered the panels to the vignette tray and vignette panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte using the left over strips to cover the sides of the tray.
I painted a metal pail from my stash with Hickory Smoke Distress Paint and applied Distress Grit Paste randomly on the surface using my fingers. I painted on a coat of Evergreen Bough Distress Paint mixed with White Gesso to lighten and once dry, tapped Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo Distress Paint randomly with my fingers, allowing each colour to dry before adding more. I tied twine to the pail, fixed moss and twigs from my stash to the Vignette Tray using Distress Collage Medium Matte and fixed the pail on top using my hot glue gun.
I fixed layers of the waste from Etcetera Trims behind where the Vignette Panel would sit on the tray to act as a support. I die-cut the Pattern Repeat Thinlits from Distress Watercolor card, added to the panel along with Cut Out Leaves die-cut from Idea-ology Classic KraftStock, Idea-ology Ephemera and twigs from my stash and fixed the panel to the tray using my hot glue gun.
I fixed Idea-ology Wood Slices and twigs from my stash in front of the panel for further support, applied a generous amount of Distress Collage Medium Matte and sprinkled with Prima Art Stones,  Mini Art Stones and bird seed. I die-cut the Feathered Friends Thinlits from Idea-ology Classic Kraftstock, flipping two of the dies so that the birds faced in different directions and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.

I finished off by adding moss and twigs inside the pail, die-cut Alphanumeric Tiny Type Thinlits from Distress Watercolor card, added to Idea-ology Classic KraftStock to create the "Home Tweet Home" sign and fixed to the pail and twigs using my hot glue gun.
I had lots of fun creating this project reminding me of the cheeky little sparrows, robins, blue tits, thrushes and blackbirds that visit my garden every day to tuck into the bird seed, peanut and fat balls breakfast, lunch and supper. Have a great weekend whatever you have planned and I'll be back on Monday to share my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.
Toodle-oo for now
Hugs Kath

  2. I am almost lost for words Kath, this is just amazing, so well thought out and put together, its brilliant.
I bet this is the first time you painted without the gorgeous Buddy getting his tail in it or on some part of his fur, I always had a problem with that when Cody was here, he followed me everywhere, but oh did I miss that sweet boy of mine....xxxx
