Simon Says - Spritz and Splatter

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

It's the first challenge of the month and that means the Design Team are showcasing one particular brand/company and this month it's the turn of PaperArtsy. You don't have to use their products to join in the challenge but we would love to see how you use them if you have them in your stash.
We are also welcoming the lovely and talented Cath Wilson aka Inky Fingers as our Designer In The Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog, you are in for a real treat, so pop over and say Hi!
and the theme for this week is...
Spritz and Splatter
I made a trio of bookmark tags to send to my "stay at home" friends who enjoy curling up with a good book in the afternoons if the weather prevents them working in their gardens. I used PaperArtsy Infusions to create a quick background, decorated with Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Digits Mini Layering Stencil from Set 48, images from Entomology, Flutter and The Chemist and used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Label and CutOut Script Thinlits for the sentiments.

I began by die-cutting the tags and reinforcers from Sizzix Matboard using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tag and Bookplates Bigz L die but if you don't have this die, you could also use pre-cut Distress Mixed Media Heavystock #8 Tags, which I've linked below.
I sprinkled the PaperArtsy Infusions Powders, L to R - Lemoncello, The Sage and A Little Bit of Jade on to the tags, spritzed with water and dried with a heat tool. I sprinkled a little of The Sage powder on to my craft mat, spritzed with water, added splatters using a small paintbrush and fixed the reinforcers in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I added Peeled Paint, Rusty Hinge and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks using Ranger Cut 'n Dry Foam through Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Digits Mini Layering Stencil from Set 48.
I stamped the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flutter, Entomology and The Chemist inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.
I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to Idea-ology BlackOut KraftStock and die-cut the letters using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Label and CutOut Script Thnlits
I decided the tags needed an extra pop of colour and used Simon Says Lots Of Dots stamp set with Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door Distress Oxide inks and Black Soot Distress Archival.
I spritzed Crinkle Ribbon (now retired) with the corresponding Distress Oxide sprays in my SplatBox, scrunched up while wet and left to dry.
I matted the tags on to Idea-ology BlackOut Classic KraftStock, trimmed to leave a small border and ran the tags through my laminator to make them more durable.

I re-punched the holes and tied the ribbons in place

As you may know, Simon Says Stamp are accepting new orders, but have longer shipping times for the moment due to the coronavirus. With this in mind we have made the difficult decision to suspend the $50 voucher for this challenge.
We know that many people are staying safe at home and we would love it if you would continue to enter the challenges and have fun! We are all in this together!

  4. LOVE the wording on those bookmarks. They sound just like me. I'm in bed early every night but read for up to two hours, so I look forward to going. I only stop when my eyelids are closing - literally. Brilliant idea.
