Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
and the theme for this week is...
WE'RE ALL A-BUZZ
I created an art journal page to celebrate the news that has the crafting world All A-Buzz. Tim Holtz fans everywhere are super duper excited and eagerly waiting the reveal of the new Distress colour that will be joining the Distress Family on May 20th, only two more sleeps, my friends.
I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte over the whole page and created shadows around the collaged layer with a Walnut Stain Distress Crayon smudging it out at the edges with my finger.
I applied Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink through the Grid Dot Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool, sprinkled with Rusty Hinge Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
I applied the Distress Embossing Dabber over the Idea-ology Theories Quote Chips, sprinkled with a mix of Rusty Hinge and Cracked Pistachio Distress Embossing Glazes, removed some of the powder from the edges with my finger and heat set.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Retro Type from Sizzix Matboard, Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and Silver Metallic Kraftstock.
I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to scraps of Idea-ology BlackOut KraftStock and Distress Watercolor card, die-cut the letters using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Label Thinlits and fixed to a torn strip of Memoranda Paper
I repeated with the Distress Watercolour card
I dug around in my stash of Alpha Parts to add question marks, arrows and capital letters and totally shot myself in the foot adding the number 62...I was thinking 60 colours + the new one + Picket Fence but that doesn't apply to Distress Paints, Sprays or Crayons which also come in metallics so with hindsight, adding the numbers was not a great idea but they were well and truly stuck down by the time I realised (that's the power of Distress Collage Medium Matte, my friends) and I wasn't starting over. So another numptie moment when I have no alternative but to embrace my imperfections.
I added the typewriter popped up on Mini Foam Adhesive and added an Idea-ology Tiny Clip. Then I had one of those "what if" moments and printed the promotional picture on to copy paper, fixed to card and applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte gently over the top so that the printer ink didn't smear.
I die-cut sections using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Circles Thinlits
fixed to the page with Distress Collage Medium Matte and created shadows around the edges using a Walnut Stain Distress Crayon
I tapped Shabby Shutters Distress Paint on to the Alpha Parts and once dry, sanded to create a distressed look. I added Idea-ology Hardware Heads, Special Delivery Remnant Rubs and splatters of Black Soot Distress Paint.

ReplyDeleteWow this is stunning lots of inspiration and images Kath x
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of that tiny alphabet the more I become convinced I NEED it, lol. Though I do have a set of small Scrabble letters somewhere that I've never used. This hoarding is definitely a problem at times. Fabulous collage again. I'm just not good with papers, though I confess I haven't tried very hard because I love inks so much. Beautiful!
