Simon Says - Happy Birthday

We are currently hosting a month long Kids Summer Vacation Challenge over on the Wednesday Challenge Blog. Please CLICK HERE for more details.

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

The first challenge of the month means that the Design Team feature one particular company/brand and this month we will all be using the fabulous products from Stampers Anonymous. You don't have to use them to join in the challenge but we would love to see what you make if you have them in your stash.
Woohoo, I'm absolutely delighted and over the moon that we are welcoming my lovely and very talented friend Anne Redfern aka Redanne back to the Designer Spotlight. If you haven't visited Anne's blog yet, pop on over and you will be in for a real treat.
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is celebrating it's 10th anniversary and a big thank you to you all for your support by joining in the challenges throughout the years, so it shouldn't be a surprise that this week's theme is...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I created a fun card to celebrate using lots of my favourite (old and new) stamp sets from Stampers Anonymous along with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Circles, Alphanumeric Shadow Upper and Falling Stars Thinlits
and on the inside, a motley crew of Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Crazy Cats, Dog Crazy, Crazy Birds and Snarky Cats characters are ready to party with Simon
I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to create 3 - 4.3/4" x 6.3/4 panels, spritzed with water and sprayed with Speckled Egg and Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide Sprays and added splatters of Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Spray. I inked the slate background from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Slate and Stone with Vintage Photo Distress Archival and stamped randomly on the panels. I inked the image from Faded Type with Distress Embossing Ink, sprinkled with Speckled Egg and Rusty Hinge Distress Embossing Glazes and heat set. I inked the image from Flower Shop with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink and stamped on the 3 panels.
I applied Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide ink through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mosaic Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool and fixed the panels to a 5" x 7" white card blank. I inked the images from Mini Glitch with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink, heat set with Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glaze and Distress Embossing Ink heat set with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder. I die-cut the sentiment from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Shadow Upper Thinlits using the shadow sections on the inside of the card and the letters on the front.
I die-cut circle frames from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Circles Thinlits and set aside. I inked the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bird Crazy, Crazy Dogs, Crazy Cats and Snarky Cats with Black Soot Distress Archival ink and fussy cut. There are matching dies for all the characters apart from the Snarky Cats but I quite enjoy fussy cutting and was too lazy to look out the dies. I coloured the characters with Distress Oxide re-inkers, Rusty Hinge, Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Speckled Egg, Wild Honey and Abandoned Coral using a Distress Detailer Brush, trimmed to fit into the circle frames and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I added Glossy Accents to the eyes, used a Sakura Black Glaze Pen to colour the noses and added a white highlight using a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.
I stamped the Mixed Media image inked with Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide ink on to scraps of Distress Watercolor card, heat embossed with Rusty Hinge Distress Embossing Glaze, coloured lightly with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool and die-cut using the individual star dies from Tim Holtz/Sizziz Falling Stars Thinlits
I added stars die-cut from plain Distress Watercolor card and Specimen Remnant Rubs to finish.
