Hello Beautiful

Hi my friends, did you happen to tune in to the Tim Holtz Distress Sprays Q&A YouTube Live on Saturday, if not, you missed an amazing masterclass and I would highly recommend that you watch the replay HERE. It doesn't matter how long you've been playing with these very versatile Distress products, our adorable Professor always has some fresh ideas and new "what if" techniques to share with us all.
I was inspired to look out my Distress Oxide Sprays and Distress Spray Stains and spent two days spraying and spritzing to my heart's content making lots and lots of backgrounds.
Having a pile of backgrounds ready made is a great time-saver when you need to make cards in a hurryI used the Beautiful sentiment die and Idea-ology Sentiments Label Stickers from Simon Says Stamp Spring Windows March Card Kit and die-cuts from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Funky Nature Thinlits.

For the first card I trimmed Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock to 4.1/4" x 5.1/2", applied Ranger Distress Texture Paste through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Floral Layering Stencil and sprinkled with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder while the paste was still wet. Once the paste was dry I heat embossed to create that beautiful shimmery shine. I placed the panel in my splat box, spritzed lightly with water and sprayed with Rusty Hinge, Fossilized Amber and Peeled Paint Distress Spray Stains. I dried with my heat tool, added splatters of water using my Distress Sprayer bottle and removed any of the excess spray from the embossed areas with kitchen towel. I die-cut the panel using the shadow die first, lined up the sentiment die on the shadow section and die-cut again. I matted the panel on to a 4.1/2" x 5.3/4" panel of brown Idea-ology Neutral KraftStock and fixed the sentiment die-cut in place in the negative space.  I added the Idea-ology Sentiment Label Sticker and matted the panel on to a 4.3/4" x 6" white card blank.

I trimmed Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock to create 2 - A2 panels. I sprayed through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flourish stencil with Rusty Hinge and Old Paper Distress Spray Stains and set this panel aside for another project. I misted the ink which had collected on the back of the stencil with water, laid the stencil on to the second panel of Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock and pressed with kitchen towel, allowing the ink to soak in to the card and create a monoprint effect. I die-cut the Beautiful sentiment twice and the shadow section from Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock, coloured the shadow section with Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool, added to the panel using Sizzix Foam Adhesive to create dimension and fixed the sentiment in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I die-cut the flowers using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Funky Nature Thinlits, coloured with Crackling Campfire and Old Paper Distress Re-inkers using a Distress Detailer Brush, added Sizzix Foam Adhesive to the flower heads, Distress Collage Medium Matte to the stems and leaves and tucked in behind the sentiment banner.
I added an Idea-ology Sentiments Label Sticker and matted the panel on to a 4.1/2" x 5.3/4" white card blank.

I'll be back soon to share more makes using my pile of backgrounds, in the meantime, have fun with whatever you're making.
Hugs Kath xxx
