and the theme for this week is...
CHRISTMAS/WINTER HOLIDAYS
I made a card for a special friend using some of my favourite Tim Holtz stamps and dies...
I started off by cutting a panel of Distress Watercolor card to be slightly smaller than my 7.1/2" x 5.1/2" card blank and applied a coat of slightly watered down Hickory Smoke Distress Paint.
I added strips of French Design Tape and applied several coats of Picket Fence Distress Paint, drying between coats until I was happy with the coverage.
I then stamped one of the snowflakes from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Swirly Snowflakes with Versamark Ink, dusted with Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder and heat set. While the embossing powder was still warm, I placed a Ranger Vintage Foil Sheet over the snowflakes and rubbed with my finger, transferring the foil to the images.it's hard to capture in a photograph but the snowflakes have a beautiful shimmer when turned to the light...
I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Sparkles inked with Hickory Smoke Distress to add some interest to the background.
I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stitched Rectangles Thinlits to create a frame cut from Distress Watercolor card.
I coloured the inner section as before with Hickory Smoke Distress Paint and using the Tm Holtz/Tonic Stamp Platform stamped the cottage from Holiday Drawings 3 times to darken the image using Hickory Smoke Distress Archival Ink.I placed the stamped section back into the frame and added Mini Swirly Snowflakes using the same Sticky Embossing Powder/Vintage Transfer Foil technique...
I used a Sakura Quickie Glue pen for the detailed areas and Versamark inkpad at the bottom of the panel, to add snow accents, sprinkled with Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder, heat set and sprinkled again with Stampendous Chunky Embossing Enamel
I machine stitched around the edge of the panel with Silver Metallic thread, randomly sprinkled on Stampendous Chunky White Embossing Enamel and heat set from underneath until it was melted.
I die cut the deer from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Winter Wonderland, the sentiment from Retro Merry Christmas and the foliage from Festive Green from Idea-ology Silver Metallic Kraftstock and several layers of white card. I layered the die cuts and fixed in place with Ranger Multi Medium Matte slightly offset to create a shadow effect.
and here you can see the shimmer and shine from the Vintage Snowflakes...
I coloured the edges of a panel of white card with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink using the direct to paper technique and matted on to the white card blank.
