and the theme for this week is...
MINIATURE/TINY THINGS
MINIATURE/TINY THINGS
I decorated a Mini Etcetera Tag and Etcetera ScallopTrims to create a fairy woodland scene with tiny Shrink Plastic die-cuts and pearl beads
I painted around sections of Idea-ology Document Collage Paper with clean water, teased the sections apart with my nail and fixed to the tag with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I wasn't happy with the section on the left so while the Collage Medium was still wet, I pulled off some strips.
I added Antique Linen Distress Paint to my Glass Mat, applied a light coat over the tag using a brayer and removed some of the paint from the Collage Paper with a damp cloth.
I applied Ranger Opague Texture Paste through the Mosaic Mini Layering Stencil from Set 3. Ignore the pot that says Opague Crackle, that was my intention but I changed my mind. Once the paste had dried, I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium over the tag ready for some Distress Crayon colouring.
I scribbled Walnut Stain Distress Crayon over the stencilled surfaces, rubbing it into the detail with a wet finger and buffed some of the excess off the texture paste with a soft cloth.
I also applied Walnut Stain Distress Crayon to the Baseboard Lace Frame, wiped it back with a soft cloth to reveal the detail and sanded the edges and a little over the surface with an emery board. This handy nail accessory is ideal for using in small spaces where it might be awkward to use the Distress Sanding Grip.
So far, the tag is looking a bit beige so I decided to jazz things up a bit by adding colour to the gorgeous Idea-ology Transparent Wings. I am totally in love with these beauties and should have ordered a job lot before they become one of those "can't get for love or money" items. I added a few drops of Intrique Pearl Alcohol Ink and a drop of Blending Solution to a felt applicator, pounced the ink on the back of the Transparent Wing so that the hint of colour and detail on the front will still be visible.
I applied a light coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte on the front and added Distress Rock Candy Glitter using the Glitter Duster.
In keeping with my gorgeous pink glittery Transparent Wings, I inked the script stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology with Picked Raspberry Distress Archival and stamped randomly on the background. I added a torn Idea-ology Journal Card and Mummy Cloth to the back of the frame, fixed to the tag with Distress Collage Medium Matte and added the Idea-ology Transparent Wing with a few strands from the Mummy Cloth.
I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte to the Etcetera Trims, scribbled on Walnut Stain Distress Crayon, smoothed it out with my finger, wiped it back from some areas to reveal the paint underneath and fixed it in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I applied a generous coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte above the Etcetera Trims shelf and added several layers of Mummy Cloth.
I fixed the other Transparent Wing to the back of the Idea-ology Baseboard Doll and added a little hint of Picked Raspberry Distress Crayon to the Dolls using a neat trick from Paula Cheney. I scribbled the crayon on to my glass mat and added a little puddle of water separate from the crayon. I wet the tip of the cotton bud, rolled it between my fingers to remove the excess water, picked up the crayon and applied to small areas on the Dolls.
I die cut the flower and leaves from Distress Watercolor Card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 2. I spritzed Antique Linen, Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain Distress Spray Stains on to my glass mat and tapped the die cuts into the stains to pick up the colour. I tapped Distress Collage Medium on to the flowerhead with my finger and added Distress Rock Candy Glitter using the Glitter Duster. I fixed the die-cuts to the tag using Distress Collage Medium Matte and popped the flower head up on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.
For my next trick which I learned from The Professor himself, I added a few drops of Intrique Alcohol Pearl to a plastic cup, added the Idea-ology Bauble Findings, swirled them around until they were coated with colour and tipped out on to kitchen towel to dry. I wiped the cup with a cloth and a little Blending Solution and repeated with Mushroom Alcohol Ink.

I filled an Idea-logy Tiny Vial with Distress Rock Candy Glitter, applied a generous coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte above the Etcetra Trim shelf and fixed the Vial and Bauble Findings in place. I have run out of the tiniest Bauble Findings so I added some pearl beads from my stash, the ones with the irritating holes.
I then decided, in my wisdom, to revisit an old technique and die cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Large Stems from Shrink Plastic, an adventure I don't think I'll be repeating anytime soon. Crikey it's scary to watch such large die cuts curling, twisting and contorting into miniature versions of themselves.
I coloured the stems of the die cuts with Sublime Alcohol Pearl and Mushroom Alcohol ink using a small paint brush dipped in blending solution and fixed these fiddly diddly die cuts in place with, yes you guessed it, Distress Collage Medium Matte - my go to glue for everything.
I cut out the individual words from an Idea-ology Big Talk Snarky Sticker
added to the tag, along with Idea-ology Numeric painted with White Gesso, Classic Label Stickers, Number Remnant Rubs and a Clippings Sticker.
