Simon Says - Stars and Stripes

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
STARS AND STRIPES
I created a traditional style card to celebrate the 4th of July using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous The Professor and added a funky twist with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Stars and Stripes Flowers.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor Card to 3.3/4" x 6.1/2" and decorated using Tim Holtz Rays and Stars Layering Stencils with Candied Apple and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide inks applied with Mini Round Blending Tools and spritzed with water.
I inked the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous The Professor with Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink and stamped on the panel for placement. I stamped the hats inked with Faded Jeans and Fired Brick Distress Archival inks on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor Card.
I re-stamped the Professor on to Distress Watercolor Card using Black Soot Distress Archival, coloured with Distress Inks using a Distress Detailer Brush and fussy cut all the images. I cut strips from the red hat after adding the hat band and fixed all the pieces in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I added highlights to the jacket, button and goggles using a Signo Uniball Gold Pen and added shading to the edge of the panel using Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
I placed the panel in my Stamp Platform and stamped the compass image in the corner, inked with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder.
I re-stamped the compass image on to Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and heat embossed as before. I coloured the panel with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink using the direct to paper method and wiped the ink off the embossing with kitchen towel.
I spritzed the panel with water to create the water droplet effect, fixed The Professor panel in place matching up the embossing and trimmed to 5" x 7". I die-cut "4" three times from white card and once from Idea-ology Red Classic Kraftstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Society BigZ XL die, layered slightly offset to create dimension and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I die-cut stars from white card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Swirling Stars Thinlits
and flowers using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits. I drew stripes on the flowers using Festive Berries Distress Marker, added Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to the centres using a Ranger Detail Blending Tool, white die-cut stars and fixed on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension.
I used a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen to add faux stitching around the edges of the panel and matted on to a 5.1/2" x 7.1/2" White Card blank.
