When is a flower, not a flower...

Hi my friends, I'm sharing the last of the cards I made for Creativation 2020 and the Facebook Live Launch of Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous 2020 collection of stamps and stencils using Mini Glitch, Grunged and Tiny Type stamp sets with the Halftone Layering Stencil to create a "when is a flower, not a flower" card. If you missed the Facebook Live, you can check out all the new products and inspirational samples over on Tim's Blog HERE and HERE.

I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to be slightly smaller than A2, smooshed Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink on to my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water and transferred the ink to the panel using a piece of plastic. I inked the stamp from Grunged with the same ink and stamped randomly on the panel to create a tone on tone effect.
I inked the circle image from Mini Glitch with Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide ink and stamped on the panel, inked again with Black Soot Distress Archival, stamped on to masking paper and cut out.
With the mask in place, I applied Forest Moss Distress Oxide ink through the Halftone Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool.
I added more stamping in the background using Mini Glitch and Grunged with Abandoned Coral and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. I inked the circle again Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and stamped on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card and a scrap coloured with Abandoned Coral, cut out the inner circles and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I pencilled in a stem for my Mini Glitch flower and used my trusty craft pick to add stitching holes for the stem and around the edges. I applied Forest Moss through the Halftone Layering Stencil on to scraps of Distress Watercolor card, cut out to create leaves and added stitching holes. I stitched the leaves to the panel and added "X"'s using black thread. I inked the sentiment from Tiny Type with Black Soot Distress Archival ink, stamped on to Distress Watercolor card, trimmed and fixed to a strip of green Classic KraftStock.
I matted the panel on Green Classic KraftStock and fixed to an A2 white card blank.
If only flowers were as easy to magic up in real life. We recently decided it was time to give the back garden a big, aiming for a low maintenance lifestyle, make-over. So the old rotten fence was removed and the growing out of control and getting too high to safely trim from a ladder, conifers were given the chop
and in their place, a new fence and a blank canvas border.
The intention is to plant a few shrubs and some climbing plants, lay the weed control fabric, throw down some gravel and fill in the spaces with pots of seasonal flowers. Easier to say than do but hey ho, Rome wasn't built in a day and I'm looking forward to the challenge but am under no illusions that it's going to be another of my "watch this space/major work in progress" adventures.
Toodle-oo for now
