Simon Says - Make Your Own Background

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

It's the first Monday of the month and the Design Team are showcasing a brand company and this month we are using products from Paper Rose.  You don't have to use their products to join in with the challenge but if you have them, we would love to see how you use them.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Sandra Rupp aka SR Paper Love as our Designer In The Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog before, pop over, you are in for a real treat.

and the theme for this week is...
MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND
Unfortunately, I didn't receive my Paper Rose products in time but I just happened to have all the Distress Speckled Egg goodies and the Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits dies I used in a previous project still sitting on my workdesk so decided to create a small Art Panel.

I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to 5" x 7", spritzed Antique Linen Distress Spray Stain on to my craft mat and brayered on to the panel.
I dried and repeated with Speckled Egg Distress Spray Stain
I inked the large script from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous The Professor 2 with Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink, spritzed with water and stamped on to the panel.
I applied Speckled Egg Distress Ink through the Grid Dot Mini Layering Stencil from Set 27 using a piece of Ranger Cut 'n Dry Foam.
I applied Distress Collage Medium Matte to an Idea-ology Lace Baseboard Frame and while it was still wet, sprinkled randomly with Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
I scribbled Walnut Stain Distress Crayon over the panel, working in small sections at a time, rubbed the crayon into the detail with my finger and wiped back with kitchen towel.
I spritzed Speckled Egg Distress Spray Stain through the Gothic Layering Stencil on to a panel of Ranger Natural Sticky Back Canvas. I cut a piece to fit behind the Lace Baseboard Frame and added splatters of Distress Oxide Gathered Twigs. I die-cut the flower from the rest of the panel using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits and coloured the stem and flower centre with Gathered Twigs and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide inks using the Distress Detailer Brush.
I fixed the Lace Baseboard Frame in place with Tim Holtz Mini Foam Adhesive and added Idea-ology Field Notes Snippets, Ephemera, Small Talk ChitChat Stickers and Specimen Remnant Rubs.
I added the flower and a twine bow, darkened the edges of the panel with the Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink pad using the direct to paper technique.
