Simon Says - Sprays and Splashes

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
SPRAYS AND SPLASHES
I decided to use one of the Distress Oxide Spray backgrounds I made inspired by recent Tim Holtz Facebook Live demos as the focal point on my large frame card along with Distress Embossing Glazes and Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mosaic Layering Stencil and Grunged stamp set and decorated with Idea-ology Field Notes Ephemera and Theories Quote Chip.

I used Dylusions Mixed Media Cardstock as the substrate and if I remember correctly, Vintage Photo, Fossilized Amber, Stormy Sky and Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Sprays to colour.
I trimmed the panel down to 4.1/4" x 5.1/2", sprayed the Mosaic Layering Stencil with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Spray, spritzed with water, laid on the panel and patted with kitchen towel to transfer the colour and create a monoprint effect. I stamped the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Grunged inked with Fossilized Amber and heat embossed with Fossilized Amber Distress Embossing Glaze to create splashes on the background. I stamped the dotted image inked with Distress Embossing Ink, sprinkled with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and heat set. I inked the letters and number image with Faded Jeans Distress Archival ink and stamped randomly on the background.
I added Vintage Photo Distress ink to the edges of Idea-ology Field Notes Ephemera, sprinkled with Vintage photo Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set. I fixed the Field Notes Ephemera and Translucent Wings in place with Distress Collage Medium.
and added splashes of White Gouache using a Distress Splatter Brush.
I added Eclectic Elements Thread and butterflies from Idea-ology Field Notes Ephemera
I applied Distress Collage Medium with my finger to an Idea-ology Theories Quote Chip, sprinkled lightly with Fossilized Amber and Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Glazes and heat set.
I matted the panel on to white card, leaving a small border, added to a larger panel of Idea-ology BlackOut Kraftstock, sanded to reveal the kraft core and fixed to a 6" x 8" white card blank.

  1. What a beautiful layered background! The Mosaic stencil is my all time favorite. I also love the addition of the butterflies, string and Quote Chip sentiment to finish it off.
