Yes I'm back in painty/inky mode again finishing off my project for The Altered Art Night at The Papeterie on 3rd May but you ain't seen nothing yet...cast your eyes over yesterday's workdesk...magazines everywhere after one of my "brilliant at the time" or so I thought brainwaves...
I've got as far as whittling them down to more manageable proportions...
but there is still the "not so little" problem of the "surplus to requirements" pile currently taking up space on the floor...do you think there's any chance of the crafty fairy popping along with her magic wand and a bit of abracadbra....no me neither...
But it's time for our morning stroll and while The Furry Boy is busy with his "sniff every blade of grass thing" I'll be pondering the error of my ways...giving myself a good talking to but I fear I may be wasting my time...I'm a bit of a lost cause when it comes to having brilliant ideas which have a tendency to jump up and bite me on the bum.
See you all tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx
Your magazine stash Kath looks much like mine...it does get out of control so quickly!! and it's sooooo painful to give any up for the recycle bin....Good Luck! Have a great WOYWW Hugs May x x x
ReplyDeleteOh no Kath, don't put those mags in the recycle bin.Thrift Shops would LOVE them.happy workshopping.\Judy#15
ReplyDeleteLovin' those painty blobs (bigger than blobs really) on your craft sheet and eagerly awaiting the end results.
ReplyDeleteJust keep crafting and keep the mags on one side until you decide what to do with them - are you sure there are no articles inside that you might want?
Hugs, Neet #3 xx
I too am a great one for distractions like clearing out mags when I should be crafting for a specific reason!
ReplyDeleteI too have every issue of Craft Stamper - and they're swamping me too... but I don't want to get rid of them... (like I re-read them!) Hope you find a solution - and then share it with us!! Your WIP looks fun...

I had a new carpet in my studio not long since, you can image the horror i had to go through emptying the room and getting rid of stuff. So I am with you all the way on the mags.
ReplyDeleteGood luck

One I Made Earlier Today
Hi Kath hope you didn't get too wet out on your walk, very dreich here too this morning. Very interesting desk there can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteHappy hump day, hugs
Erika.
You have to whittle the mags down from time to time but dont put them in the rubbish or re-cycle give them to a charity shop or op shop they will be so pleased to receive them.
ReplyDeleteEliza #26
I have 2 shelves full of craft magazines, I organised them and they stayed that way
ReplyDeleteBridget #1
My bookcase is heaving too and I wonder how many I actually read - we like the piccies!!!! Slightly too large a stack for next to the WC! Have a creative week and happy WOYWWing... Sarah at 12!
ReplyDeleteFab pictures. What a predicament!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW xxx
You aren't alone Kath..my brilliant ideas always cause me many times the amount of work I envisaged...the one thing about a good clear out is that I need it to be DONE I do not like stepping over piles of stuff that are waiting for more action. You've already been to my place, so you know that your desk isn't untidy really..although I had to look twice to check that the paint was on a mat!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some fun with fresco's, I don't envy the mag sort out, i can't bare to part with my craft stampers and the pile just keeps growing lol
ReplyDeletehappy woyww

Now - once it came to choosing between buying a magazine OR an inkpad - that was the final straw & the mags were evicted! Now that bubble wrap looks VERY interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be Mrs Noah for a while by the looks of the wet stuff outside.
Have a good day.

Now you can get yourself down here and sort out mine. I'll expect you off the next train!!

hi Kath
ReplyDeletestick them on a free cycle site... there is sure to be one on line that is near you... you just state must be collected... the idea is people put stuff on that is no good to them any more.. but you can only claim goods if you have given goods away before... so people can not just take and take stuff... (if you know what i mean)... or charity shop them... my mam is in the middle of saying she is going to sort hers... lol... good luck with gettin rid...

Can't wait to see what you make with your splodgy mess. something amazing I'ii bet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of mags.
Don't forget to take out all the best bits, but that means you might have to flick though each one. Coffee needed for that job.
I usually take them to my craft meeting and they get snapped up straight away.
Have a lovely day.
Hugs Carol xx
Haha I had to smile when I read your post Kath as your pile of magazines looks a bit like mine! I have boxes of them everywhere but I am just not brave enough to cut them up, give them away or throw them out!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great WOYWW and a fab week, Luv Karen xx #75
I too had a magazine mountain, until I donated them to my local charity shop. They were delighted with them and apparently the whole mountain sold within a few days.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday.

I am so glad you showed that bubble wrap as I have been wondering how you did those gorgeous backgrounds, now I know! Tee hee. I thought you used a stencil and I have been trying so hard to do it. I have the same kind of mountain of mags, don't know what the answer is - build an extension maybe......Anne #61
ReplyDeleteGreat looking mag stash and yep, it does look familiar. If by any chance that fairy does come round, can you send her over here please??
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW #34
Oh Kath - yes I know the feeling well.. I have a stack of Cross Stitchng mags from about 20 years ago which I hate to throw out - surely there must be someone who could make use of them!! alas I think it will be 'in the bin' more likely.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.

I almost got caught up in this magazine craze, but decided I would just surf the web for ideas! I'd rather search sitting in my chair as down on my hands and knees with my head stuck in the closet and butt in the air! Sorry for the mental picture!
ReplyDeleteGlenda #103
Another magazine mountain here - this one is of epic proportions! Hubby has told me he'll need to reinforce the upstairs floors if I keep anymore!
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same problem with my magazines! Hopefully a solution will arrive soon! lol xxx
ReplyDeleteWell done for getting your magazine collection to such a good size. I always start the job and then get sooooo distracted by all the lovely ideas on the covers!!
ReplyDeleteSandra #17
Am envious of your magazine stash! Great organizing as well. It's my first WOYWW and am amazed at all the wonders and treasures from all the tables. Be back again!
ReplyDelete#54
Hi Kath, like you had a mountain of mags. I have kept all my craft stamper mags. But got rid of all the rest to the charity shop. I must say I felt so much better when they had gone. Don't buy any now only craft stamper. Would rather get a new stamp or inkpad.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait so see what you've been making. Have a good day. Love and hugs x ChrisB
Lovely creative desk there today - I sell my old magazines for 50p each on a forum - worth a try with that little mountain! Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl No. 20
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the paintyness and bubble wrap!!! I too have an evicted magazine mountain, must be the weather?! Have a great day hugs trace x 97
ReplyDeleteThe desk looks fab, can I come and play?!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of files and I go through my magazines and cut out just the bits I get inspiration and ideas from and stick them in my file.

Super crafty desk, with splodges too! I'm prone to mass clear outs of magazines too, I donate them to friends for their children to look through and then harass mum into making projects! Am using my WOYWW snooping as an excuse to munch my way through a bag of mini eggs! Take care Zo xx 77
ReplyDeleteIf the postage wouldn't be prohibitive to the States I'd buy those Craft Stamper mags from you!! Love the inky/painty goodness on the desk, looks like that class is going to be a very interesting one.

WOW! You have quite a collection of magazines. I love that large rubber stamp on your desk. dani138
ReplyDeleteHello Kath, my but that's a huge collection of magazines. Although I don't have anything like as many, I started sifting through my pile recently, removed any item I thought I might just have use for and chucked the rest and it is a job that takes longer than anticipated. You could donate them to your local hospital ... a recent stint in the waiting room of ours was made all the worse because of the mind-blowingly dire reading matter available, a few craft magazines would have helped the occupy my mind :) I like that big stamp on your desk and it looks as though your making something really interesting. Hope you have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #113
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of magazines!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the idea of making your own stamp like the one you did in the left upper corner.
Happy WOYWW! :)

You mean that's not normal to be in the middle of some looming deadline and then veer off on some tangent that is unrelated and will take a lot of time???
ReplyDeleteHmmm.
I didn't know as I do it all the time. I'm impressed with your mountain of magazines. I have quite a pile myself. I do find them useful for inspiration so I'm glad to see that you didn't trash them all. You are right that a mountain of them are too many though. We have a fabulous used bookstore here in town that takes in books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, computer games, and interesting knick knacks. They always take my stamp magazines in for trade. The hubby and I read a lot so that's a gonga deal. Sometimes I've passed them off to other crafty ladies. So maybe you can find a craft group to unload your pile on? Not quite as good as a craft fairy waving her wand, but close.
I am a self confessed magazine aholic. Is there such a thing? Well, ifthere was, thatwould beme. So I know exactly whatyou mean with a mountain of magazines. If you get good advice on how to get rid of them without throwing thwm away, please let me know.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
U
I don't have a magazine stash! got plenty of other 'stuff' stashed though! *rolleyes* lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Jackie x #53
I have loads of magazines as well Kath but don't want to throw any away but getting a bit bogged down with them . Hope you were not soaking to the a--e today when out on you stroll. Audx
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not a tip of a work desk, just a creative space. As for the magazines, I buy far too many. At one time I used to keep loads and loads and a few years ago did sell on ebay, but it's just not worth all the hassle and the postage is so high that people don't want to buy. I now keep the piles down (but still buy more mags than I really should) - (Hazel, #173) x
ReplyDeleteI think I can relate to the messy desk and too many magazines lurking about. Susan and I were just agreeing today that we keep magazines and never look at them again!!
ReplyDeleteKat xx
Giving away your magazines is like sending beautiful paper on a card to someone, knowing that they will probably just bin it in a couple of weeks. That's why my shelves are full up with lovely paper and card. Is that elastic bands round your acrlilic block to use as a stamp Kath? What a good idea if it is, I must try that. Hope it's not a trade secret. This weather is awful!
ReplyDeleteRunning a bit behind on my visits. This will probably make a lot of people shake their heads in wonder.. but I go through the magazines tear out what I want to keep, put in a folder then when I use that idea I throw it away or give that to a fellow crafter if I think she would like it. I give the magazine with missing pages to my friends to do the same or whatever. That is my solutions for mountains of mags. or having to find more storage space LOL Have a great WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting around. I feel your pain w/ the mags. I had such a hoard and decided to go through each and cut out the inspirations and put them in a "Binder of Inspirations." It's been great over the years and no mag buildup! Mostly now I just go online for ideas. Best of luck! Darnell (184)
ReplyDeleteOohooo I couldn't throw out or recycle any of mine, and I could probably build a small house with mine!! I stick sticky notes in some of them so I know where to look if there's some thing I might what to look up, shame they don't come with a separate index!! Thanks for my snoop! Have a great crafty week. HaPpY WoYwW!
ReplyDelete((Lyn)) feeling very old at #102!
my days blow by too quickly too..... just never seem to accomplish anything.....
ReplyDeleteI had boxes and boxes of magazines that I just didn't know what to do with. I now have a system that I purchase esubscriptions and if they come in paper too I look through them and if there aren't 3 items I think I will use I take it and donate it at my local craft store. New crafters love free stuff and it encourages them to move on up! Thanks for sharing Kath and have a great week. Vickie #41
ReplyDeleteDon't envy you trying to sort out all those magazines. I am trying to keep mine to a minimum now, but I can't bear to part with my Crafts Stampers!
ReplyDelete** Kate **
Love seeing paint, lol, more if it is on my hands, just magic about that, right......hehehehe
ReplyDeleteCraft mags of mine also in heaps, but nearby just in case............:))
