Simon Says...It's Written In The Stars

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
IT'S WRITTEN IN THE STARS

Apologies in advance for the rather higgedly piggedly assortment of step by step photos this week...while I was happily clicking away recording each step...the SD card in my camera had a little tantrum and decided to save only some of the photos.
I started off by creating a starry night background on Distress Watercolor card using BlackSoot, Wilted Violet and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide inks...the usual fun adventure of tapping the ink pads on to my non stick craft, spritzing with water etcetera etcetera...you all know by now how it works. I then added detail using the Crossed Mini Layering Stencil from Set 30 with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink...
I tore strips of dictionary paper, added to the bottom of the pages and coloured with Spiced Marmalade...
I'm a huge fan of vintage dictionary papers but they are hard to find so I was jumping for joy when I found this huge old dictionary at a local charity book sale for the princely sum of 50p (65 cents in US money). It's old but not exactly vintage but hey I can sort that out with some tea bag staining and there's enough pages in this hefty tome to last me for the rest of my life.
So with the theme of written in the stars in mind, I die cut stars using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Crescent Moon and Stars BigZ die, coloured some with Spiced Marmalade and inked around the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.

I die cut the Haunted House from the Idea-ology Halloween Paper Stash, the Village Graveyard Fence from black and white card and the Ghost from the dictionary paper and Boo from Vintage Spirits also from black and white card...
I backed the die cut house on to card coloured with Spiced Marmalade and highlighted with a Signo Uniball White Pen, tinged the white fence with Spiced Marmalade and fixed the black fence slightly offset to create a shadow...
I cut the Boo word apart to create individual letters, fixed in place slightly offset again to create a shadow and added Halloween Remnant Rubs and Occasions Small Talk Stickers
I used a Faber Castell Black Pitt Pen to create shadows around the house, stars and ghosts, created splatters with White and Black Gesso, added a few flicks of Brushed Pewter Distress Mica Spray and used Black Soot Distress Paint to darken the edges of the page.
