Simon Says...Time Out

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
TIME OUT
I created a fun funky colourful Art Journal page in my Dylusions Creative Journal dedicated to my favourite pastime, taking time out to sit in the garden with a cup of coffee, in the company of my Furry Cubbyhole Companion and the resident birds.
I started off by stamping the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Inventor 1 on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper with Hickory Smoke Distress Archival and tore the paper into 3 strips.
I applied a light coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint to the pages and fixed the stamped strips in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I painted the pages with a light coat of  Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey, Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough Distress Paints. I didn't clean my brush between colours so that the colours would blend across the page instead of having harsh lines
I applied Picket Fence Distress Paint through the Idea-ology Splotches Layering Stencil with a mini round blending tool, stamped the image from Inventor 1 again on to plain Collage Paper, inked with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder, fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
At this point I realised that the original Inventor images didn't show through the paint and stencilling very well so I re-stamped them with Black Soot Distress Archival on to plain Collage Paper and fixed on top of the original stamping using Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I die cut the tea cups using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tea Time BigZ die, coloured them with Abandoned Coral and Evergreen Distress Oxide inks and used Grid Dot and Stripes Mini Layering Stencils to create a pattern on each cup.
I die-cut the flowers and foliage from Distress Watercolor Card using Funky Florals 3 and Garden Greens and coloured the die-cuts with Distress Oxide re-inkers using the Detailer Water Brush.

I die cut the words from Distress Watercolor card and black card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Thinlits and layered them to create drop shadows
I finished off by adding Idea-ology Numbers Remnant Rubs and used Black Soot Distress Paint to edge the pages and to create splatters.

  8. Kathy, you always make such fun and inspiring projects, and you share your process with marvelous and clear instructions. This is a particularly fun page for me, and you have stirred ideas within me, something I can do in my HUGE journal. This is the one place that gives me angst because not only are the pages huge, it is such a beautiful journal. I feel like I need to have a page all planned, which is not how I usually work. Doing something like what you have shown as an example, although planned in process, Helps me create with what I have, and Then, I would have 4 spreads completed! I truly enjoy your posts.
