Simon Says - Vacation

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
VACATION
We all take air travel for granted nowadays, hop on a plane and within 24 hours you can be at your holiday destination anywhere in the world, all made possible by the early pioneers of aviation. So I took inspiration from those intrepid adventurers to create a Vintage Traveller's Notebook for a Victorian gentleman.

I die-cut the notebook from Sizzix Mat Board using Eileen Hull's Notebook die and covered front and back covers with papers from Tim Holtz French Industrial 12" x 12" Paper Stash fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I also fussy cut the images which were on the back side of the left over paper pieces.
I dug into my stash of Idea-ology Snippets and Expedition Ephemera and started to create a collage on the covers.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Destinations twice from white card, trimmed in half and fixed the first die-cut in place with Vintage Distress Collage Medium Matte. I coloured the land areas on the second die cut with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink, using a Distress Detailer Brush, fussy cut and fixed in place to create dimension. I applied Distress Vintage Collage Medium Matte over the entire cover to create a more vintage look.
I applied Idea-ology French and Journey Design Tape and scribbled round the collaged elements with a Faber Castell Pitt Black Pen, blending it out with my finger.
I fixed Idea-ology Chatter Design Tape to white card, applied a coat of Distress Vintage Collage Medium Matte, fussy cut, sanded the edges with an emery board and fixed to the covers.

I die-cut TRAVEL from Red Classic Kraft Stock, sanded to reveal the kraft core using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Idea-ology Alphanumeric One Inch Tall Thinlits and fixed around the Destination die-cut
I punched a hole using my Crop-A-Dile and added an Idea-ology Elastic Loop as a closure.
I sanded the edges of the covers for a worn look and added splatters of Picket Fence Distress Paint.
