AALL&Create - Voyager

Hi folks, it's Tuesday and that means it's time to share this week's Guest Designer project for AALL&Create. I decided to use the gorgeous #198 Voyager stamp set designed by Olga Heldwein and Stencil #45 Digital Bubbles designed by Autour DeMwa, which tied in perfectly with the circles on the stamped image, to decorate the cover of a Mini Book.

I die-cut the mini book from Sizzix Mat Board using Eileen Hull's Scoreboard XL Wrapped Journal die and trimmed off the wrapped section. I brayered Ripe Persimmon and Evergreen Bough Distress ink straight from the ink pads on to the mat board surface. On this occasion, I didn't use Gesso because I wanted the inks to create texture on the untreated surface and applied several light layers to achieve the look I wanted.
I applied White Gesso through the Digital Bubbles Stencil #45 using a mini round blending tool and foam.
I inked the images from Voyager #198 with Versafine Onyx Black and stamped on the cover. You'll see that the centre of the main image didn't stamp too well, my fault entirely, perhaps not enough ink or not enough pressure but there's a solution...
I stamped the image again on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper, traced around the image with a wet paintbrush and teased the section apart with my fingers. I turned the paper over and coloured the flowers on the reverse with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink and White Gesso using a small paintbrush. This creates a thinner layer to add to the cover than stamping on to card, colouring and fussy cutting out the flower image.
Once it was dry, I applied the Collage Paper to the cover using Distress Collage Medium Matte and who is ever going to know.
I inked the sentiment from the stamp set with Versamark, stamped on to scraps of black card and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder. I fussy cut one section, used a small circle die to cut the rest of the sentiment and sanded the edges to create the look of Idea-ology stickers.
I decorated the inside cover in the same way but using Carved Pumpkin and Evergreen Bough Distress Paint.
I decorated the covers of the signatures with the stamped image and coloured with the same inks using the watercolour smooshing technique, basically transferring the ink, spritzed with water, to the surface using a piece of acetate or plastic.
and added highlights to the cover using a White Sakura Gelly Roll Pen

Toodle-oo for now
