Simon Says - Happy Birthday

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

The first challenge of the month means that the Design Team are showcasing products from a certain company/designer and this month it's the turn of our very own Simon Says Stamp so if you have some Simon Says Stamp products in your craft stash, we would love to see how you use them.
We are also welcoming  the lovely and super talented Alison Bomber aka Words and Pictures into the Designer Spotlight. If you haven't visited Alison's blog before, you are in for a real treat!
The Monday Challenge is celebrating it's 9th Birthday this week and we would like you to create something with birthday celebrations in mind.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I used a simple Distress Oxide ink watercolor technique to create a card with two of my favourite Simon Says Stamp products, the Beautiful Flowers stamp set and Circular Lace Stencil

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 6" square and stamped the image from Beautiful Flowers with Versafine Onyx Black. I applied a generous wash of water over the panel and dropped in Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink, allowing the water to move the colour around and dried with my heat tool. I repeated the process with Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint and added splatters of Peeled Paint to the background.
I didn't tape the card down on this occasion, so it was slightly warped but there's an easy fix. I placed the card between sheets of copy paper and ran it through my die cutting machine and hey presto, one flat smooth card panel.
I applied Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink through the Circular Lace Stencil using a mini round blending tool, stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and coloured the letters with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink, diluted with water, using a small paintbrush.
I added just a hint of Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to the edges using a mini round blending tool and matted the panel on to a 6.1/2" card blank created from Simon Says Stamp Black card.
