Simon Says - A Bit O' Green

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

This week we are celebrating St Patrick's Day with
A BIT O' GREEN
I decorated a canvas as a gift for a friend who is a keen gardener and shares her birthday with Ireland's patron saint. I went with a soft pastel theme and added subtle little bits of brighter green as a nod to my green fingered friend and the Emerald Isle.

I began by trimming Dina Wakley Media Board which has a canvas texture to 6" x 8" and using my Ranger Gel Printing Plate as a palette applied a sketchy coat of Shabby Shutters Distress Paint using a brayer. I used the brayer to apply Pumice Stone Distress Paint to one of the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Baroque and stamped randomly over the panel. I added torn strips of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Typset Collage Paper fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I spritzed Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Spray on to my Glass Media Mat and transferred to the background using a scrap of plastic. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled on Tattered Rose Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
I created a halo for the stamped image (forgot to take a pic of this stage) by die-cutting a circle from scrap card and applied White Gesso through the aperture with Ranger Cut 'n Dry Foam. I inked the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flower Shop with Black Soot Distress Archival ink and stamped on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper. I used Rusty Hinge, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain Distress Paints to add colour to the reverse of the collage paper which means that the detail will still show on the right side. I ran a wet paintbrush around the image and teased away the excess with my finger. I fixed the collage paper to the panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I applied Peeled Paint Distress Paint through the Digits Mini Layering Stencil from Set 48 using Ranger Cut 'n Dry Foam, sprinkled with Peeled Paint Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
I applied Distress Texture Paste Crackle through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Halftone Layering Stencil
I added splatters of Rusty Hinge Distress Paint, sprinkled with Rusty Hinge Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
Once the paste was dry, I scribbled over the texture with a Rusty Hinge Distress Crayon, pushing the colour into the crackle with a damp finger and added more splatters of White and Black Gesso.
To finish I added stickers from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Clippings Sticker book fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and used a Sakura Black Micron Pen to add shading around the edges. I added the panel to Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock trimmed slightly bigger, ready to be placed into a frame.
