Simon Says - Insects and/or Birds

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...

INSECTS and/or BIRDS

I created a butterfly themed Art Journal Page using Simple Stories Vintage Weathered Garden Paper Pad, Bits and Pieces and Foam Stickers, Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Glitch, Mini Mosaic Layering Stencil, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Stretch Lower Thinlits and Idea-ology Small Talk Stickers.

I began by fixing papers from Simple Stories Vintage Weathered Garden Paper Pad in my Dylusions Small Creative Journal using Distress Collage Medium and once dry, trimmed off the excess. I applied a thin wash of white gesso using a paintbrush and then scraped on some extra gesso to create a little bit of texture. I added torn strips of paper and ephemera from the Bits and Pieces pack, all fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium.

I applied Distress Crackle Texture Paste randomly through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Mosaic Layering Stencil from Stencil Set 28. 

I stamped the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Glitch, inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink randomly over the background. 

Once the texture paste areas were dry, I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte over both pages, scribbled Peeled Paint Distress Crayon over the texture and used my fingers to push the colour into the crevices and to smooth out the colour. I added definition and shadows around the ephemera pieces using a Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen, again blended out the colour using my finger.

I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Stretch Lower Thinlits three times from Distress Watercolor card, layered to create dimension and fixed to the page with Distress Collage Medium Matte.

I added Idea-ology Small Talk Stickers and butterflies from Simple Stories Vintage Weathered Garden Foam Stickers sheet.

To finish I added splatters of White and Black Gesso.
