Hello my friends, the first week of December almost bites the dust and it's all systems go in the cubbyhole to finish off the Christmas makes. I'm sharing the Gift Tag Cards I made for the big kids in my family using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Retro Santa, Framed Tags and Bold Text Christmas Thinlits, Stampers Anonymous Department Store, Distress Holiday Woodgrain card and the super soft Simon Says Pawsitively Velvet White Paper with a little bit of foiling to add some festive sparkle.
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card into strips and coloured by smooshing a custom blend ink pad (Frayed Burlap/Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide and Vintage Photo/Walnut Stain Distress Ink re-inkers) on to the craft mat on my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water, dried and die-cut using the largest tag from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Framed Tags Thinlits.
I tapped a Distress Embossing ink pad lightly around the edges of the tag, working in small sections at a time, sprinkled with Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder, heat set and pressed the sheet of foil on to the sticky edges.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Retro Santa Thinlits from dark brown card, Distress Holiday Woodgrain card, Simon Says Pawsitively White Velvet paper and Idea-ology Gold Metallic KraftStock.
I inked the edges of the second layer, the hand pieces and around where the eyes will be with Walnut Stain Distress ink using a mini round blending tool, fixed the beard and cuffs with the hands trimmed off and the belt buckle in place with Distress Collage Medium.
I fixed these sections on to the dark brown base layer and added just a hint of foil around the edges of Santa's suit.
I masked off part of the sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Department Store and stamped on the tags inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink.
I die-cut Merry multiple times from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Bold Text Christmas Thinlits and layered to create dimension.
I added stars die-cut from Idea-ology Gold Metallic KraftStock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Falling Stars Thinlits.
I tied Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Tiny Bells on to gold twine, fixed to the top of each tag and added triple ribbon bows.
To finish I fixed the tags to white card blanks and trimmed off the excess to create tag cards.
Good luck with your festive makes
Hugs Kath xxx
Everything about your tags Kath are so beautiful from the bells to the buckle and of course what ever image you use totally stunning x
ReplyDeleteJust stunning. I have this die & have been looking for a tutorial on how to put it together, yours was all I could find. What is the black base for? I dont see it in the finished santa? I'm not sure how the black belt got there?-maybe from the black base?
ReplyDeleteit's all explained in the blog post, the first layer (the base is dark brown) and that's what creates the belt when you add the layers on top
