It's The Weekend...

Hi folks...OK I know officially the weekend doesn't really start until tomorrow but hey I've got my jolly holibobs long weekend hat on and will soon be speeding my way courtesy of Scotrail south of the border to Leeds for tomorrow's workshop at Craftwork Cards...I'm as high as a kite...mega mega excited and looking forward to meeting up with my lovely buddy Enfys again at Leeds Station...hot footing it to Craftwork Cards to set up for tomorrow and have a rummage around in their "filled to the rafters with yummy goodies" warehouse. Woohoo...kids in a sweetie shop comes to mind.
But I promised to share the result of my mucky messy play day with paints...inks and gorgeous goodies from The Ribbon Girl...
an old canvas destined for the bin...
scrubbed clean with an old nail brush and soapy water...rinsed and left to dry...
one coat of Gesso and it's back to being a ready to use blank canvas...

I'm in love with these gorgeous Prima blooms and
this adorable little Prima Embellishment Birdhouse...
I'll be back tomorrow with another give-away...2 bumper packs of goodies from where else but Craftwork Cards...see you later.

A bit of a midden...

Hi folks...if you thought yesterday's floor was an abomination after the latest die cutting marathon...fasten your seatbelts...prepare to be shocked at the midden (scottish word for a compost heap or untidy pile) that is currently the cubbyhole...crikey how can one crafter cause so much chaos just having a little play...
and the first task of the day is that old party game "hunt the thimble  missing bottletop"...not the best start to anyone's day...
followed by the "why didn't I tidy up as I went along" put everything away marathon before Mr Dyson can be let loose on the floor and the cubbyhole crew move in to hose it all down and shut up shop until Monday.
Let me tell you that bit's a piece of cake compared to the task of tidying up this mucky old crafter...getting rid of the inky painty hands...degrunging those nails...taming the bird's nest hair and polyfilla-ing all those wrinkles ready for my trip to Leeds tomorrow.
So I'll leave you with some sneaky peeks of the results of my messy playtime...

and the happy mail delivery from Fiskars...
lots of new goodies to play with or to put it another way...lots of worky stuff to do on my return making samples for Stitches...
I'll be back tomorrow to share one of my playtime makes..as for the other one...you'll have to wait until Sunday and my post for this month's Ribbon Girl Challenge. Toodle-oo for now...HI HO...HI HO...it's a-tidying I must do.

If You Could See Me Now...

Hi folks...in the words of the song..."If They Could See Me Now" yours truly is jumping for joy and dancing around like a loonie...another die cutting marathon is in the bag...the cubbyhole crew are well used to die-cutting 50 of this...100 of that or 200 of the other...it doesn't really matter...that moment of utter euphoria when the very last one exits the machine and we know the job is done...is exactly the same whatever the number...
Die Cut Numero 300 on this occasion...
all set to join the 50 bundles of die cut greenery for Saturday's workshop
now you may be thinking that I've seen enough of this particular die cut to last me a lifetime...well actually NO...I managed to soldier on and cut out some extras for today's "me having fun" projects...
but first there's the small matter of 300 ready made leaf stencils cluttering the floor to deal with...Mr Dyson's probably going to turn up his nose at them so that job's down to me I think but he'll be more than happy to gobble up the little itty bitty pieces left behind.

I'm not shouting from the rooftops just yet but I have a sneaky feeling Mr Sniffles has run out of steam and thanks to Neurofen and the magic of Manuka Honey is packing his suitcase as we speak.
See you all tomorrow

A slight hiccup...

Hi folks...I'm back in the cubbyhole but not quite up to speed...there's a slight hiccup in the firing on all cylinders department...I seem to have picked up a dose of the sniffles on my weekend travels...this "supposed to be organised for all eventualities" Grandma wasn't suitably clad for the torrential downpour in Glasgow which meant sitting in the venue for a couple of hours with soaking wet hair but Mr Neurofen is on the case and is kicking it's butt as we speak.
With lots to do on the crafty list and only 3 days left before I'll be heading to Leeds for this weekend's workshop...I need to get a wiggle on and deal with this little lot...the cubbyhole has been invaded by 300 cones...
no way did The Furry Boy and his Mum fancy a pine cone treasure hunt in the now knee deep in mud soggy forest so I popped into my local wholesale florist...only problem is they are wired in bunches of 6 and are going to take up a lot of room in my suitcase so time for drastic measures...snipping each one apart...a bit of a tedious task but hopefully a "take up less space" solution.
And if that goes to plan...perhaps I'll be able to have a little playtime with the happy mail that arrived last week-a parcel of burlap yumminess and other bits and pieces from my bestest bud...the lovely Dawny P...
and a bumper pack of new goodies from Craftwork Cards...
A little birdie tells me...we may be playing with some of these at this weekends workshop and I have a sneaky feeling that I already have some of the paper pads...so expect another give-away soon.
See you all tomorrow

I'm back..

Hi folks...I'm back in the cubbyhole after completing my jury service...an experience I won't forget in a hurry...for this old crafter whose daily commute involves walking from the kitchen to my place of work my body may never recover from the bony shaking twice a day Park & Ride bus journey and the great big wake-up call to the fact I've led a sheltered life...a shocking interesting harrowing difficult exhausting experience...a 4 day rollercoaster of emotions...the only saving grace were my fellow jurors...a lovely bunch of folks...all ages and from all walks of life and it may sound strange to say it was also lots of fun too...when confronted by the nastier side of life..an inherent sense of humour kicks in...policemen have it in abdundance...also known as gallows humour and it's the only way you can cope with such a serious situation. And if you're prone to complain that your life is a bit humdrum...bordering on boring sometimes...be grateful...I am. But my turn is over and I can't be recalled within 5 years...by that time I'll be approaching the age limit...thank the Lord for that.
And the perfect antidote was a fun day out on Saturday to Top Gear Live with the grandkiddies despite the torrential rain and howling wind in Glasgow...we had a blast with Messrs Clarkson...May...The Hamster and of course The Stig...

thrills...spills...
and lots of pyrotechnics...
and another new experience for Grandma...a McD Happy Meal for supper on the way home.
Looking forward to being back to tackling a pile of work...more new products will be arriving soon from Fiskars and I'll be finishing off the prep for the Great British Craft Workshop this weekend at Craftwork Cards...my lovely buddy Enfys and I are so looking forward to a fun day with lots of lovely crafters and a kicking up our heels evening with our lovely buddies Sue and Julie at the Strictly Come Dancing Tour...time to dust off my party frock and look out the pots of sequins and glitter I think.
See you all tomorrow

Calendar Girl...

Hi folks...panic not...no need to cover your eyes...I haven't decided to become a Calendar Girl posing in my birthday suit with crafty items hiding the unmentionables...crikey it would require many many 12" x 12" papers taped together to hide the lumps bumps and wrinkles that this old body has accumulated over the years. Instead I've been indulging my passion for calendars...yes I'm obsessed with calendars...I need all the help I can get reminding myself what day of the week it is.
So as it's my turn to post over on the Craftwork Cards blog today...I'm sharing a wall calendar hanger made with the gorgeous Amelia Paper Pad...the heart mats from the Twister Heart Cards...die cut flowers from the Paper Floristry Sherbet Paper Pad with matching Candi.
I can't take the credit for this idea...I was inspired by a beautiful Christmas Wall Hanger sent to me by my lovely "two peas in a pod" buddy...the gorgeous Dawny P...

Tim Holtz Word Play letters...
and Movers and Shapers Numbers...
And woohooo...the first treat of 2014...this old petrolhead Grandma and the grandkiddies are heading off to Top Gear Live in Glasgow today and I don't know who is more excited.
See you all tomorrow

Woof...woof...it's me...

A very good morning to all my bloggy buddies from your favourite bundle of golden deliciousness...as you know my old Crafty Mum is currently otherwise engaged and is likely to be missing from the cubbyhole until Monday or Tuesday next week. I thought this was a golden opportunity to have a little rummage around in this crafty space and snaffle some goodies for a give-away...rather proud of myself managing to persuade Dad to take the all important piccie but didn't bank on that awkward sod aka Mr Blogger scuppering my plans with his childish little tantrums...he flatly refuses to let me show you what I've unearthed.  Nothing else for it but to come clean and enlist Mum's help but even she who must be obeyed can't manage to persuade him either so I've got a slight problem.
Mum will be joining you tomorrow with her already scheduled post on the Craftwork Cards blog so be patient and hang on in there folks...with a bit of luck I'll be joining you again bright and early on Sunday to share the fruits of my rummage labours.
