Simon Says...Food And/Or Drink

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
FOOD AND/OR DRINK
I intended making a card for a friend who is rather partial to a cocktail or two but couldn't decide which images to use from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Cocktail/Wine Blueprints and a card was not going to be big enough to accommodate all the Snarky Small Talk Stickers that apply to my friend, so it ended up a birthday book rather than a card

I scored and folded 3 pieces of Heavy Media Cardstock to measure 5.1/2" , 5.1/4" and 5" square so that the pages will sit nicely inside each other and allowing for the addition of a fastening on the outside cover of the card. I coloured the pages with Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides using the "smooshing, drying, spritzing and tapping to pick up the left over drops" technique that I'm sure you are all familiar with by now and I love how they are all different.
I set them aside to dry and stamped the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Cocktail and Wine Blueprints on to Distress Watercolor card with Black Soot Archival and coloured with Distress Oxide Re-inkers and a Distress Waterbrush.
I fussy cut the images and used them to work out what was going where on the pages. I then stamped the images on the pages using Black Soot Archival.
I re-stamped the images on to Distress Watercolor card, die-cut using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Deckles Thinlits, inked the edges with Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide, fixed over the original stamped images and added the cut out images and words. I applied Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide through the Splatters Mini Layering Stencil from Set 3 to the background using a mini round blending tool.
I repeated the process with White Gesso using the Splotches Mini Layering Stencil from Set 9, sprinkled with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.
I stamped different sized numbers randomly on the pages using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Merchant inked with Black Soot Archival,, Abandoned Coral and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxides.
I held the pages together with clips to make sure that the scored and folded lines would stay in place, pricked holes using Tim Holtz Craft Pick and Design Ruler and hand stitched.
I stamped one of the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Ornate Trims with Black Soot Archival randomly on the background and around the edges of the pages. And oh boy, it was a bit of a novelty using an acrylic block again. They have definitely been made redundant since the arrival of the  amazing Stamp Platform but with some many pages to stamp, on this occasion, it was a speedier option.
I added Idea-ology Snarky Small Talk Stickers and fixed a piece of Idea-ology Lace Findings under each one using Distress Collage Medium Matte./
If you've got this far and are feeling a bit weary, believe me, so was I by this point but bear with me, we are almost done. I die cut words from black and white cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Handwritten Celebrate and Handwritten Love Thinlits and attached to the pages and the cover.

I added an Electic Elements Thread bow and an Idea-ology Heart Charm
and then realised I should have applied Glossy Accents to the cocktails, wine glass and bottle BEFORE I put the pages together...another of those spectacular "note to self" moments.

I finished off by punching holes in the cover using a Cropadile, die cut reinforcers using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tag and Bookplates Bigz die and threaded through black ribbon from my stash to create a tie.

Celebrate Sunshine...

Hi folks, I'm sharing another card made with the Beachy Waves stamp from Simon Says Stamp Good Vibes release. You can find all the products from the release HERE.

I inked the stamp, starting at the top, with Fossilized Amber followed by Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxides and used the mini round blending tools to blend the colours and get rid of the harsh lines where the inks met, spritzed the stamp with water, placed the Distress Watercolor card on top and let it sit for a minute or so to allow the the card to absorb the ink.
I die-cut the word Celebrate 4 times from Simon Says Stamp White Cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Handwritten Celebrate Thinlits and layered to create dimension. I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Four Seasons Saying with SSS Intense Black ink.
I stamped the small sun image from Simon Says Stamp Four Seasons Sayings with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide on to scrap card 3 times, heat embossed with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and cut out leaving a white border.
I attached a torn panel of vellum, White Eclectic Elements Thread across the bottom of the panel, added a double thread bow, the sun images and sequins.
We've got plenty of sunshine in my neck of the woods but unfortunately accompanied by a very chilly wind and who would have thought I'd still be wearing my Nanook Of The North dog walking jacket in June. Have a great weekend whatever you're doing and I'll see you all on Monday with my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...here's a little sneaky peek

Gone Fishing...

Hi folks...Simon Says Stamp very kindly sent me the Beachy Waves Stamp to play with...
from their latest release... Good Vibes
you can check out all the fabulous stamps, stencils, dies etc from the release HERE available to buy  now.
I made a "Gone Fishing" card which reminded me of  happy times spent fishing with my dad. Whatever we caught, usually rainbow or brown trout, we cleaned, threaded on a stick, cooked over a wood fire and devoured with relish.
I inked the stamp with Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Broken China Distress Oxide ink, wiped the ink back from the circle and inked that with Fossilized Amber. I spritzed the stamp lightly with water, stamped on to Distress Watercolor card and flicked on some droplets of water. I inked the fish images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Sea Life with Black Soot Archival, stamped on to scraps of card coloured with the same Distress Oxide inks and fussy cut. I then stamped the foliage from the stamp set with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink.
I cut a slit in the card with Tim Holtz Craft Knife, roughed up the edge with Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, fixed the fishes in place and added white highlights with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
I applied Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the bottom of the panel and sprinkled with Prima Mini Art Stones. I tied twine around the top of the panel, added detail to the circle with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink and the Splash Layering Stencil and added Label Letters for the sentiment.
I finished off by adding Glossy Accents to the fish eyes and lots "air bubble" dots to the background and matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank. Have fun whatever you're doing today and I'll see you all soon.

Simon Says...Transport It

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
TRANSPORT IT

I trimmed paper from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Dapper Stash Paper to be slightly smaller than the Dina Wakley 9" x 12" Media Board and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I then gave the board a light wash of White Gesso.
and fixed a panel of contrasting paper in the centre.
I stamped the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Dapper with Ground Espresso Archival ink
and Vintage Auto on to a tag from Idea-ology Expedition Ephemera
I created layers of Expedition Ephemera, added an Idea-ology Journey Flashcard and created shadows with a Black Soot Distress Crayon.
I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Thinlits to die cut the word Travel from Idea-ology Textured Surfaces

I applied Ranger Opague Texture Paste through the Screwed and Arrows Layering Stencils
and die cut lots of gears from scraps of Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Gearhead Thinlits, colouring some with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide and Ground Espresso Distress ink, leaving some white with only inked edges.
I added Dapper and Passport Design Tape, Yuletide Fasteners to tie in with the red on the design tape and postage stamp Ephemera and added the left over circle waste from the gears, outlined with a Sharpie Fine Black pen.
an Idea-ology Paper Doll, lightly sanded to create a distressed look
an Idea-ology Quote Token coloured with Picket Fence Distress Crayon, threaded with twine and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Black 3D foam to look as though it's hanging from his hand and an Idea-ology Quote Chip coloured with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink.
