Which Way To The Beach

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's "Take A Leap" Challenge...we hope you can join us this week too...

and we are challenging you to...

MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND

this week we are showcasing Darkroom Door Products...you don't have to use them to join in but if you have them we would love to see them used on your projects. I have been dipping my toes into the waters of art journalling...a bit of a sink or swim adventure for me...just managed to keep my head above water and not sure I pulled it off but I sure had some messy fun trying.

I started off by giving the pages of my Dylusions Small Art Journal a coat of White Gesso and then smeared on Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Paints blending it in with my fingers followed by a dab here and there of White Gesso.

Then I stamped the bubbles from the Darkroom Door "Under The Sea" stamp set in Black and Forget Me Not Archival Ink and highlighted the bubbles with a White Signo Uni-ball Pen.

I stamped the greenery at the bottom of the pages with Fern Green Archival Ink and highlighted the edges again with the Signo Uni-ball Pen.

To create the sea bottom I applied White Texture Paste with a palette knife and sprinkled on Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress Embossing Powders...waited for half an hour or so for the Texture Paste to be almost dry and then melted the embossing powders with the Heat It Tool...the photograph doesn't really show the texture but it's as near the feel of real sand as you can get. I stamped some fish directly on to the pages and the rest on to Ranger Watercolor Paper with Black Archival Ink...coloured them in with Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves Mini Ink pads using the Detailer Water Brush...drying between layers to build up the colours...cut them out and arranged on my seascape highlighting around their eyes and applying small dots on the bodies of some with the White Signo Uni-ball pen...

I overstamped both pages with the Darkroom Door Scratches stamp inked with SimonSaysStamp White Pigment Ink pad and created lots of splatters using Picket Fence Distress Paint and the Splatter Brush...

added Life Quotes Remnant Rubs and Small Talk Stickers...

and to finish off...I popped a small amount of Pearl Perfect Pearls into a Mini Mister and sprayed all over to soften the colours and give everything a pearly finish.
