Inspired By Music...

Hi Everyone...it's Monday and that means it's time to have some fun over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...thank you for joining us for last week's "At The Movies" challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
INSPIRED BY MUSIC
I have such a varied taste in music that I was pondering for quite a while before that magical lightbulb moment took me off on a spooky adventure with some Crazy Birds inspired by the song...Defying Gravity from what is probably my favourite musical of all time...WICKED...woohoo the chance to have lots of fun making a WICKED HALLOWEEN themed chipboard panel...
I trimmed the chipboard down to measure 8" x 8" and covered with a sheet of paper from the Tim Holtz Materialize Paper Stash Pad. I die cut a circle to use as a mask and applied White Gesso with Cut 'n Dry to create the moon.
I covered the moon with the circle die cut and coloured the panel with Seedless Preserves and Carved Pumpkin Distress Crayons and then applied White Gesso through the Twisted Twigs Mini Layering Stencil from Set 23...
fixed down torn strips of Composer Tissue Wrap with Distress Collage Medium Matte...
and watered down White Gesso to create splatters using a paintbrush
I stamped the Crazy Birds (just to give me an idea of where I wanted to place the other elements)...applied Black Gesso through Dylusions Luscious Leaves stencil and highlighted the leaves with a Signo Uniball White Pen.
I stamped one of the leaf images from Tim Holtz Leaf Prints using Carved Pumpkin Distress Paint and the spiders  from Mini Halloween 5 with Black Archival...
I then stamped the birds from the Bird Crazy Stamp Set and witches hats from Crazy Things on to Ranger Watercolor Paper
coloured with Carved Pumpkin...Peeled Paint...Seedless Preserves and Black Soot Distress Markers using the Detailer Water Brush...die cut using the matching Thinlits and applied Glossy Accents to the eyes.
and fixed to the panel with 3D foam...check out that dare devil Crazy Bird defying gravity by flying upside down on his broomstick...
and his mate who's not so sure this is a good idea...
I then added label letters and Idea-ology Newsprint Alpha Parts coloured with Distress Paints and Once Upon A Time letters cut from white card..

  8. Kath, you are a wonderful teacher. You are the most talented and creative person around. I read your description of the steps you take and then I look closely and see how you did it. I have lots of supplies from Archiver's when they were around ,but need encouragement to make cards. I love you Crazy Birds Halloween you made here. Now, I've got to go look up the song.

  20. You did such an amazing job on this project! Your details are always perfect-- even down to the hat falling off of the upside-down birdie. The layers of scenery you created here are remarkable! I am way behind on seeing musicals (I think the last one I attended was Les Mis or Beauty and the Beast), but you definitely made me want to see Wicked because of your inspiring piece!
