Simon Says...Take Note

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
TAKE NOTE
(notebook/notepaper)

My 2017  notebook was looking a bit worse for wear so I splashed out on a new one and got to work making a decorative cover which would be practical for everyday use.  I trimmed a a piece of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock to be slightly smaller than the front of the notebook
and I couldn't resist having a play with the new Distress Resist Spray and colours from the latest release of Distress Oxide inks. But first, there are 3 things (recommended by Tim himself) you need to have on hand before you use this bottle of magic...
a Spray Box, a container with water if you intend spraying through a stencil
and a cloth to clean the nozzle of the bottle after each spray
I spritzed the Distress Resist Spray through the Flourish Layering Stencil, removed the stencil and lightly spritzed the card again. The Distress Resist Spray only takes a few minutes to dry or you can speed things along with a heat tool  I then smooshed Evergreen Bough, Fossilized Amber and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide inks on to my non stick craft mat, pulled the card through the ink, spritzed with water and tapped the card back into the remaining droplets of ink until I was happy with the background and voila check out the amazing chalky look resist "with a textured feel" background.
I stamped the Lined background stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Cosmopolitan and Lined with Ground Espresso Archival Ink...
and overstamped with the script stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology with Black Soot Archival ink.
I applied Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink through the Cargo Mini Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool.
I placed the card in to the Stamp Platform and stamped one of the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Wildflowers with Black Soot Archival ink several times until I got a nice dark impression, sprinkled with Ranger Superfine Clear embossing powder and heat set.
I stamped one of the insect images from Entomology randomly over the background with Black Soot Archival.
I then stamped one of the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Label Frames with Black Archival on to a scrap of card coloured with the same Distress Oxide inks as the background
and used the Cargo Mini Layering Stencil with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to create the word, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set.
I cut out the label frame and fixed in place with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and Tiny Attacher staples. I added Idea-ology Life Quotes Remnant Rubs, splatters of White Gesso, darkened up the edges with Black Soot Distress Paint and fixed the panel to the front of the notebook with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.
