Simon Says - Alcohol (Drinks or Inks)

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
ALCOHOL (Drinks or Inks)
It's a New Year and that means a new notebook for this forgetful crafter. I picked up a black A5 notebook at my local discount store and decided to add a decorative panel using Yupo Paper and Alcohol Inks to create a watercolour effect background.

I trimmed the Yupo Paper to measure 4" x 6", dropped spots of Flamingo Alcohol Ink on to a piece of plastic, placed it on the Yupo panel and squished it around with my fingers. I cleaned off the plastic and repeated the process with just a few small drops of Sunset Orange.
I added a drop of Alcohol Ink Gold Mixative to my Glass Media Mat, diluted with a little Blending Solution and added splatters using an old brush.
I stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Handwritten Thoughts with Black Soot Archival
and couldn't resist using one of the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Stitches which will be available to buy this month and is going to be a much-loved much-used favourite
I coloured scraps of Yupo Paper with Flamingo and Sunset Orange Alcohol Inks using a felt applicator tool and at this point, was still unsure where this was going or what I intended to do next
until the postie rang the doorbell and handed over my box of Tim Holtz/Sizzix new release dies including Funky Florals Large Thinlits - what a stroke of luck and perfect timing.
I die cut the flowers from SSS #120 Ultra White, Black card and the inked scrap and fixed to the panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte. I added Christmas Design Tape around the edges of the cover.
I fixed Tim Holtz Sticky Grid Sheet (another game changing product from our adorable Professor) to a scrap of Alcohol Ink coloured Yupo Paper, peeled off the top carrier sheet and placed the CutOut Script Thinlits and die cut.
I trimmed to create a tile and fixed to the bottom of my notebook...a little reminder of which year it is...yes I am that forgetful.
I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium over the entire cover to seal the surface because this boy will be in daily use, in and out of my handbag and travelling with me wherever I go.

  11. Scrumptious uplifting pinks and oranges, and they look so funky against the black, especially that polka dot frame.

  12. What a fab technique Kath to smoosh the alcohol inks with the acrylic, never would of thought you could do that as I thought the inks would dry too quickly but must now give it a go! The lovely pinks and oranges really pop against the black, what a lovely way to keep track of all those important dates and appointments throughout the year, this is a joy to look at! Deb xo
