AALL& Create - Mail Art Mini Book

Hi folks, for this week's AALL&Create Guest Designer project, I made a Mini Book which could be used as a journal, a notebook or address book, decorated with the Mail Art #159 stamp set designed by Bipasha BK and Stencils Quadrilaterals #52 designed by Olga Heldwein and Weathered Tiles #59 designed by Autour De Mwa.

I was clicking away as usual taking step by step photos as I created this project but unfortunately most of the photos didn't record on my SD card so I'm sharing what I have.
I trimmed Sizzix Matboard to create two covers measuring 5" x 6" and applied a coat of PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Ice Blue paint to both sides. I applied Ground Espresso Distress Ink using a mini round blending tool and Stencil Quadrilaterals #52 randomly on the background of both covers.
I inked the large image from Mail Art #158 with Versafine Onyx Black ink and stamped on the front cover. I stamped the postmark and dots images with Barn Door and Faded Jeans Distress Archival ink and added more stencilling using Weathered Tiles #59 and Barn Door Distress Archival Ink. I added white highlights to sections of the stamped image using a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.
I stamped the postcards with Versafine Onyx Black ink and the stamps with Barn Door, Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo Distress Archival inks on to Distress Watercolor Card, coloured using Distress Markers and a Distress Detailer Brush and fussy cut.
I added strips of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Postal Design Tape down the left edge of the front cover.  I brushed Distress Collage Medium Matte Vintage over the stamps to make them look more aged and created shading on the postcards using Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I fixed the postcards and stamps in place using Tim Holtz Mini Foam Adhesive.
I covered the insides and back of the covers with scraps of Tim Holtz Ideaology Correspondence Paper Stash
I used a Cropadile to punch the holes, added Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mini Book Rings and a Crinkle Ribbon Bow.

Toodle-oo for now
Hugs Kath xxx

  3. Love the stamp set, Bipasha BK is a great designer. I love the vintage-y red, white and blue theme for the mail art journal; it is just perfect! You always use stamps, stencils and inks in such a cohesive way and the results are always magnificent. Thanks for sharing your designer project and inspiration.
