and the theme for this week is...
DOWN ON THE FARM
DOWN ON THE FARM
I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Funny Farm and Nature Walk stamps to decorate a Mini Etcetera Tag, reminding me of a favourite childhood song
Chick chick chick chick chicken
lay a little egg for me
chick chick chick chick chicken
I want one for my tea
lay a little egg for me
chick chick chick chick chicken
I want one for my tea
I haven't had an egg since Easter
and now it's half past three
so, chick chick chick chick chicken
lay a little egg for me
and now it's half past three
so, chick chick chick chick chicken
lay a little egg for me
I began by covering the Mini Etcetera Tag with scraps of Tim Holtz Wallflower Paper Stash fixed in place using Distress Collage Medium Matte and applied a light coat of White GessoI applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte to the surface and created shadows around the collage of paper scraps using a Walnut Stain Distress Crayon, smudging it out with my finger.I added White Gesso through the Mesh Mini Layering Stencil from Set 8 using a mini round blending toolI stamped the egg images from Tim Holtz Nature Walk with Rusty Hinge and Broken China and over-stamped with Distress Black Soot ArchivalI smooshed Broken China, Rusty Hinge and Pumice Stone Distress Oxide inks on to my Glass Media Mat and spritzed with water. I laid a piece of black cardstock on top to pick up the ink, dried with my heat tool and tapped back into the ink to pick up the remaining droplets. I die-cut with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Potted BigZ die but forgot to take a photo at this stage, naughty, naughty...I used the same technique with Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber and Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide inks on Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and die cut to create wheat sheafs using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 2I stamped the chickens from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Funny Farm and the eggs from Nature Walk with Distress Archival inks and fussy cut.I added a brad, garden twine and Idea-logy Mummy Cloth to the pot and fixed all the elements to the tag using Distress Collage Medium Matte and Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension. I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric 1" Thinlits to die cut the words from the left over Distress Mixed Media Heavystock.I coloured the chickens with Brushed Corduroy, Candied Apple and Fossilized Amber Distress Markers with a Distress Detailer Brush. I added splatters of White and Black Gesso, Idea-ology Chit Chat Stickers Seasonal and doodled around the edge of the stickers and die-cut words with a Sakura Black Micron PenI sanded the edges of the tag and fixed to a panel of Classic Kraftstock which I then fixed to a panel of Sizzix Matboard and added garden twine to create the hanger. On reflection, I would not have added those white accents to the pot but you live and learn in this game.
