AALL&Create - Pencilled Flower

Hi folks, I'm back to share another Guest Designer project for AALL&Create using the beautiful Pencilled Flower #160 stamp set designed by Tracy Evans along with Stencil #47 Circle of Life designed by Olga Heldwein, Stencil #67 Broken Circles and my favourite favourite Stencil, that I always manage to sneak in, # 39 Lotza Dotz both designed by Autour DeMwa.
This week I decided to have some fun creating an Art Journal page in my Dina Wakley Mixed Media Journal inspired by the colours of the crocuses in my garden, a welcome contrast against the gloomy grey cloudy sky.

There are a variety of surfaces in this journal but I chose to work on the Cotton Watercolor Paper pages. I began by applying a coat of Dina Wakley Clear Gesso which basically seals the surface, prevents the paper from absorbing the mediums and allows the use of lots of water. I applied a thin wash of Hickory Smoke Distress Paint, spritzed with Hickory Smoke Distress Stain, spritzed with water to move it around a little and dried with a heat tool.  I used Stencil #47 Circle of Life to add tone-on-tone interest to the background, applying Hickory Smoke Distress Paint with a mini round blending tool.
I coloured Ranger Opague Texture Paste with Seedless Preserves Distress Paint and applied through Stencil #39 Lotza Dotz.
I used Stencil #67 Broken Circles with Twisted Citron Distress Paint to add another hit of brightness to the background.
The Cotton Watercolor pages in the journal are quite textured and after the application of wet mediums, the surface is a bit bumpy and uneven. So to get around the challenge of stamping on this tricky surface, I inked the Pencilled Flower #160 A4 stamp with Versafine Onyx Black and stamped twice on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper. I painted around the sections I wanted to use with a paintbrush and clean water and teased them apart with my fingers.
I fixed them in place on the pages using Distress Collage Medium Matte
I stamped a selection of the sentiments from the stamp set on to white Card and fussy cut
I coloured some of the circles and the flower on the stamped images with Seedless Preserves and Twisted Citron Distress Paints using a Distress Detailer Brush. I added white accents using a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen, fixed the sentiments strips in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and doodled a black line around the edge of the pages using a Sakura Micron Pen.
