Simon Says - Don't Be Fooled...Be Foiled

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

It just so happens it's April Fools Day and as it's the first week of the month the Design Team are showcasing a particular company and using products from Gina K Designs so we thought we would have some fun with a play on words! Foiling is very on trend at the moment and there are so many techniques we can use to apply foil to our creations!
We are also welcoming the very talented Sabrina as our Designer In The Spotlight for April and if you haven't visited her blog yet, click HERE and pop over to say Hi, you are in for a real treat.
the theme for this week is...
DON'T BE FOOLED...BE FOILED
This challenge was way out of my comfort zone because I don't normally do shiny and I knew my camera wasn't going to be too happy either but, hey that's why it's called a challenge, so I confronted my demons and decorated a Wall Panel adding accents of Gina K Designs Dazzling Orange Deco Foil to the Distress Oxide Sprays background and Idea-ology Transparent Wings.

So let's get started. I trimmed Kraft Card to measure 5" x 8" and applied White Gesso through the Splotches Mini Layering Stencil from Set 9 using a mini round blending tool
I tapped the Versamark ink pad through the Gradient Dot Mini Layering Stencil from Set 39, sprinkled with Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder and heat set. I placed the Gina K Designs Dazzling Orange Deco Foil Sheet on top and rubbed over the embossed areas with my fingers to transfer the foil.
I placed the panel in the Splat Box and spritzed with Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Sprays. I spritzed with water, dried and repeated the process until I was happy with the background. I removed the colour from the white gesso stencilling, which has acted as a resist, with a slighty damp cloth.
I stamped the background image from Tim Holtz//Stampers Anonymous Entomology with Distress Archival Ground Espresso and Wildflowers with Distress Archival Black Soot.
I used a Versamark Embossing Pen to add dots using the Gradient Dot Mini Layering Stencil, sprinked with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder, heat set and added splatters of White Gesso.
I coloured the back of the Idea-ology Transparent Wings with Ranger Snowcap Mixative and used a DecoFoil Adhesive Pen to add Dazzling Orange Deco Foil accents to the front.
I machine stitched around the edges of the panel and down the centre of the smaller butterfly to hold it in place
I fixed Crinkle Ribbon across the bottom of the panel, added a Crinkle Ribbon double bow, fixed the butterfly in place, added Idea-ology Ball Chain and an Idea-ology Number Brad coloured with a Picket Fence Distress Crayon.
I matted the panel on to Sizzix Matboard and then on to Hessian/Mesh which I've had in my stash forever and this was the perfect opportunity to use the gorgeous new Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios 6" Haberdashery Scissors to trim around the edges. I'm in love, they are super sharp, cut like butter and come nestled up in their very own super cool storage tin.

I finished off by adding an Idea-ology Story Stick coloured with a Picket Fence Distress Crayon and added Idea-ology Clippings Stickers.
The Haberdashery Scissors were put to the test again, to neaten up the tails of the Crinkle Ribbon bows.
