3 Out Of 4 Ain't Bad...

Hi folks, I'm back to share the third card made with the Distress Oxide Spray backgrounds. I had great intentions of making 4 cards but I've been chasing my tail to get crafty stuff finished before the weekend and decided that, at the end of the day, I can live with 3 cards out of 4 backgrounds. In fact, it's a chance to show that you don't need to use the backgrounds you make, when you're playing with new products, as backgrounds. Why don't you chop them up, stamp on them or use them with your dies to create accents on your cards.
For today's card I used the two backgrounds in the centre of the photo
You can check out how I made the black background HERE and for the other background, I placed the Distress Watercolor card panel in my Splat Box and spritzed Distress Resist Spray through the Gradient Square Layering Stencil. Remember to place your stencil in water immediately after use. Once the Resist Spray was dry, I spritzed the panel lightly with water using the Distress Sprayer and spritzed Abandoned Coral, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Sprays, letting the water blend the colours. I dried the panel and spritzed droplets of water before dabbing with kitchen towel. I then used the towel to remove any spray ink from the Resist Spray areas. I lightly spritzed the back of the stencil with Black Soot Spray Stain, laid the stencil on the panel and pressed all over with a kitchen towel to transfer the spray and remove any excess.
Here's today's card...

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to measure 5" x 7", sprayed lightly with water and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Spray. While it was still wet, I sprayed liberally with water, tilting the card to let the ink run around, mopping up any excess with kitchen towel and dried.
I die-cut various sizes of circles from both backgrounds using Sizzix Circle Framelits and now regret that I threw the backgrounds away, I'm sure I could have made at least another 2 cards with them. It must have been one of those "brain not plugged in" days.
I stamped the black circles with Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Media Marks inked with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder. I darkened the edges of the circles with Black Soot Distress ink using a mini round blending tool and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1
and Tim Holtz/Sizzix Society BigZ XL from Distress Watercolor Card coloured with Squeezed Lemonade and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Sprays. (I didn't use the black die-cuts)
I stamped the bees from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology on to Distress Watercolor card inked with Black Soot Archival, coloured with Fossilized Amber and Evergreen Bough Distress inks using a Detailer Brush and die-cut using Sizzix Entomology Framelits.
I fixed the bees to the panel with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension

and the die-cut letters with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I covered the flowers with scrap paper and added splatters of Black Soot Distress Paint.
I finished by trimming the panel down to 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" and fixed to a 5" x 7" card blank, covered with Black Classic KraftStock. Here are all three cards, using the same products and colours but in different ways.

Have a great weekend whatever you have planned and I'll see you all on Monday with my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. You still have time to join in with this week's Add Something Metallic Challenge with a chance to win a $50 gift card to spend in Simon Says Stamp Online Store.
Toodle-oo for now
