AALL& Create - Flower Power Art Journal

Hi Everyone, I'm back to share this week's Guest Designer project for AALL&CreateNow that May has arrived, I'm hoping the weather will warm up and I can spend some time in the garden,  sitting in the sun (fingers crossed), chilling out with a cuppa and admiring the wonders of nature. Those wishful thinking thoughts and the beautiful #160 Pencilled Flowers by Tracy Evans, #158 Freestyle Flowers by Louise Nelson and Stencils #47 Circle Of Life, #52 Quadrilaterals and #61 Circle Chain inspired me to create an Art Journal page in my Dina Wakley Media Journal.

I started by applying Ranger Opague White Texture Paste through Stencil #47 Circle Of Life randomly on the Cotton Watercolor Paper pages and once it was dry, I coated the pages with Dina Wakley Clear Gesso.
I diluted Evergreen Bough Distress Paint with water and applied to the Texture Paste Circle sections with a brush. I spritzed the paint and tilted the journal allowing the paint to run, mopping up any excess with kitchen towel.
I repeated with Mustard Seed Distress Paint
until I was happy with the background.
I added interest to the background using Stencil #52 Quadrilaterals with Evergreen Bough Distress Paint
and Stencil #61 Circle Chain with Mustard Seed Distress Paint, applied with a mini round blending tool and foam. I wash out the foams that I use with paint, leave them to dry on the windowsill and store to re-use.
I inked small sections of the #160 Pencilled Flower stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and holding the stamp in my hands, stamped randomly on the pages.
I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte over the pages to prepare the surface for some Distress Crayon shading. I scribbled the Black Soot Distress Crayon over the Texture Paste sections, rubbing it into the detail with a damp finger and wiping it back with a clean cloth. I scribbled the crayon on to my Glass Media Mat, diluted with water and used a water brush to add more shading.
I scribbled over the Texture Paste with a Picket Fence Distress Crayon to add highlights.
and flicked on splatters of Black Soot Distress Paint.
I stamped the flowers from #158 Freestyle Flowers on to Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink, painted around each flower with a wet paintbrush and teased the paper apart with my finger.
I added the flowers to the pages using Distress Collage Medium Matte and as if by magic, the Collage Paper melts into the background and the edges disappear. Once dry, I hiighlighted the petals with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.
I die-cut the letters for the Page Title twice from White Cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix BigZ XL Society die and layered to create dimension and the look of chipboard letters. I added splatters of Mustard Seed Distress Paint to the flowers and title and once the paint was dry, used a Sakura Micron Black Pen to add doodled lines and shading around the letters.

Happy Crafting whatever you are creating
Toodle-oo for now
