Happy B-Day...

Hi folks, I'm back to share another card made with one of the backgrounds from my weekend playtime with the new colours of Distress Oxide Sprays.

To create the background, I laid the Gradient Square Layering Stencil on to scrap paper and spritzed it with the same three colours of Distress Oxide Sprays. I flipped the stencil over, laid it on to a panel of Distress Watercolor card trimmed to A2 and pressed on the spritzed areas of the stencil with kitchen towel, transferring the ink on to the panel and removing any excess at the same time. I lifted and reapplied the stencil in different places several times until I was happy with the result. I cleaned the stencil, spritzed it lightly with Black Soot Distress Spray Stain and repeated the above process to create a monoprint effect.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 from Idea-ology Black Classic KraftStock, sanded to reveal the kraft core and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive. I painted the flower centre with Abandoned Coral Distress Paint.
I die-cut the letters for the sentiment from Sizzix Matboard and Black Classic Kraftstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Society BigZ XL die and layered to create dimension and slightly offset to add a highlight effect.
I stamped "Happy" with Black Soot Archival on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Simple Sayings, fussy cut and fixed the sentiments to the panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I stamped the bee from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology on to Distress Watercolor card using Black Soot Distress Archival, coloured with Fossilized Amber and Tumbled Glass Distress inks and die-cut using the matching Sizzix Framelits.
It's been a busy old week in the cubbyhole with crafty deadlines and before you know, Friday beckons and another week bites the dust. Time never used to pass this quickly back in the days before I escaped the rat race and joined the "I'm Retired and Loving It" Club which reminds me...tomorrow, the Friday Girls will be donning their glad rags and kicking their heels up in and around Aberdeenshire, going where the fancy takes them, stopping off for coffee, lunch and a good old gossip and I'm not going to be left out. But I will be popping on here first to share the third card in my Distress Oxide Spray trilogy, using exactly the same products for a different look.
