Simon Says - Add Something Metallic

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

The first challenge of the month means that the Design Team are showcasing products from a certain company/designer and this month we are using products from BRUTUS MONROE. If you have some of their products in your craft stash, we would love to see how you use them.
We are also welcoming  the lovely and super talented Ashley aka She Is Crafty into the Designer Spotlight. If you haven't visited Ashley's blog you are in for a real treat! Please pop by to say 'Hi'.

the theme for this week is...
ADD SOMETHING METALLIC
I decorated a Matboard panel and it just so happened that I had the new Distress Oxide Sprays sitting on my workdesk, crying out to be used and some left over Tim Holtz/Sizzix Large Stem die-cuts. I decided to mix things up, have some fun with Brutus Monroe Embossing Powders and create my own unique metallic mix.

I started by trimming Sizzix Mat Board to measure 5.1/2" x 7.1/2", spritzed with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Sprays, dried with my heat tool, spritzed with water to create that oxidised effect and flicked on some drops of Vintage Photo.
I decanted Brutus Monroe Raven, Gilded and Sterling  Embossing Powders into an empty embossing powder pot, added some Melt Art Black Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel that I've had in my stash for years to add more texture and gave it a good shake. I tapped a Versamark ink pad through the Mosaic Mini Layering Stencil from Set 4 and sprinkled with the powder mix.
I used a soft brush to wipe away some of the powder to remove any harsh edges and heat set.
I added Vintage Photo Distress Ink using the same stencil using a mini round blending tool
I spritzed Antique Linen and Dried Marigold Distress Oxide Sprays on to my craft mat, spritzed lightly with water, tapped the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Large Stems flower heads into the ink, dried and repeated to pick up the spray droplets.
I repeated with the stems and leaves using Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn
I die-cut a circle from chipboard using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Steampunk BigZ die and a pot from Sizzix Mat Board using the Potted BigZ die. I painted the pot with Hickory Smoke Distress Paint and dry brushed lightly with Black Soot Distress Paint. I tapped the Versamark ink lightly around the edges of the pot, sprinkled with my embossing powder mix, brushed away the excess and heat set. I inked the circle with Versamark, covered with embossing powder and heated. While the embossing powder was still hot and molten, I sprinked lightly with Brutus Monroe Gilded and reheated.
I sprinkled the embossing powder mix on to the flower heads and heated from underneath until melted. I fixed cheesecloth from my stash on to the background with dots of Distress Collage Medium Matte and added the flowers and pot fixed in place with Tim Holtz/ Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.
I fixed two layers of Brutus Monroe Vellum to the back of the die-cut circle, die-cut the word Love from Idea-ology KraftStock Metallic 2, Black Classic KraftStock and white card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Shadow Script 1 Thinlits. I layered the die cuts to create dimension and fixed over the circle using Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I die-cut additonal flowers from Black Classic KraftStock, Metallic 2 KraftStock and white card using Tim Holtz/ Sizzix Funky Floral 3 Thinlits.
To add further texture to the background, I sprinkled Stampendous Chunky White Embossing Enamel randomly and heat set from underneath. I trimmed Black Classic KraftStock to 6" x 8", sanded to reveal the kraft core and fixed the panel in place.
To finish, I added Idea-ology Small Talk Stickers and at this point, realised that getting a photo of the metallic elements without the pesky glare was going to be the biggest challenge of the day.
