Simon Says Stamp - Celebrate You - Dad

Hi folks, Simon Says Stamp latest release is called Celebrate You, a fabulous collection of stamps, dies and stencils, all available to buy HERE

I made two "DAD" cards using the Parental Props stamp set designed by CZ Designs, along with Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinguished and the fabulous Alcohol pearl inks from Tim Holtz and Ranger.

I trimmed Distress Yupo Paper to 4" x 5.1/4, dripped on Blending Solution, followed by drops of Tranquil and Smolder Alcohol Pearl inks. You would think I would be drawn to the more feminine pink and purple Alcohol Pearl inks but I find myself drawn to this colour combination every time and it's perfect for male cards. I added drips of Blending Solution and just let the inks do their own thing.

Once the ink had dried which really depends on how much ink and blending solution you have applied, I made sure with my heat tool, keeping it moving as Yupo is a plastic substrate and will buckle and distort if it's overheated. I stamped the large Dad sentiment from the stamp set with Ground Espresso Distress Archival

I stamped the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinguished with the same ink on to scraps of Distress Watercolor card, fussy cut and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte

and matted the panel on to a white A2 card blank which I had covered with Dark Brown Classic Kraft Stock, sanded back to reveal the kraft core.

and for the second card

I used the the same size panel of Yupo Paper and the same technique as before with the Alcohol Pearl inks, but switched the colours to Mineral and Smolder and guess what...this may be a new favourite colour combo

I stamped the Dad word only, the circle images from Parental Props and the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinguished inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.

The detail and shading on the hat didn't show up too well against the background so I re-stamped it on to Distress Watercolor card, fussy cut and fixed over the original image with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I inked the sentiment from Parental Props with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder on to a strip of Dark Brown Classic Kraft Stock and adhered to the panel using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive. I wasn't happy with that stamped circle in the bottom right corner so I dipped a clean brush in blending solution and removed it.

I also removed some of the colour carefully from the stamped circles using the same method, added Tim Holtz Idea-ology Remnant Rubs Numbers and matted the panel on to a white card blank which I covered with Classic Kraft Stock, sanded at the edges to reveal the kraft core.

I'll be back later in the week to share some cards dedicated to Mums using the Parental Props stamp set so it's time to embrace my feminine side and hit the pink and purple Alcohol Pearl inks.
