Simon Says - All Things Pink

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge BlogThank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
ALL THINGS PINK
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and sadly, most of us have been or have family, friends or neighbours, affected by Breast Cancer. Treatments and survival rates have improved greatly in the last decade but early diagnosis and treatment is key in beating this cruel disease, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make an appointment to see your doctor immediately if you find any lumps or abnormalities, however small or insignificant they may seem.
For this week's project, I created an Art Journal Page in memory of a very dear friend, who lost her courageous battle with this disease (hard to believe it is almost 40 years ago) tragically leaving behind a young family.

I decided to work in my Dylusions 8" x 8" Black Creative Journal which I haven't used for a while. I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 7.3/4" square and spritzed with Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray to add a base foundation of colour.
I sprayed Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Spray through the Gingham Layering Stencil, flipped the stencil over, placed on the card and dabbed with a kitchen towel to transfer the ink that had been on the front of the stencil.  I repeated randomly on the card to create a monoprint effect.
I fixed a panel from Tim Holtz idea-ology Christmas Layers and Baseboard Frames in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and stamped the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Architecture inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink.
I added hearts randomly to the background using the Hearts Mini Layering Stencil from Set 6 and Worn Lipstick Distresss Oxide ink.
I stamped the script background from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival, randomly over the stencilled sections. I die-cut the words from scraps of  Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Society BigZ XL die, added shading to the edges of the letters with Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a mini round blending tool and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I added flowers from Idea-ology Botanical Layers and Chit Chat Stickers.

To finish, I added shading around the calendar panel using a Ground Espresso Distress Marker and Distress Detailer Brush. I added doodling around the edges of the page and added sparkly hearts from my stash, coloured with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Re-inker
