Simon Says - Stars

Hi my friends, I'm sharing my DT project for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you will join us this week to because

and the theme this week is
STARS
I created a magical starry night home décor project using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Etcetera Cathedral and Sizzix Santa's Helper with lots of Distress Mica Sparkle and Vintage Platinum Distress Glitter

I began by drybrushing the Etcetera Cathedral Windows with Hickory Smoke Distress Paint and continued, lightening the colour with Picket Fence Distress Paint until I was happy with the colour.
I trimmed acetate slightly larger than the windows and fixed Christmas Collage Paper on top using Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I fixed the acetate to the back of the windows, trimmed to fit and added splatters of Brushed Pewter Mica Spray
I removed the wooden bases from the Woodland Trees and sprayed with Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Spray. I tapped Distress Grit Paste on to the bristles with my finger and popped them on to rolls of Design Tape to dry. With hindsight, I should have removed the bases after this stage, but hey ho, you live and learn.
I repeated the tapping with my finger process with Distress Collage Medium Matte and dusted liberally with Distress Vintage Platinum, the sparkliest gorgeous glitter ever.
At this stage of the adventure, I rummaged through my stash of Vignette boxes and they were either too small or too big for what I had in mind so I trimmed mat board to create 10 - 5" x 8" layers which I fixed together with Distress Collage Medium Matte. To cover up any rough edges, I added Christmas Collage Paper to the top and cut strips of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Paper Stash to neaten the edges.
I applied a light coat of White Gesso to the top and sanded the paper edges to remove any excess.
I fixed the Etcetera Cathedral Windows and Woodland Trees in place with my hot glue gun and added small layered pieces of mat board behind the windows for support.
I coloured a selection of Idea-ology Bauble Findings with Tranquil and Mineral Distress Alcohol Pearl inks and Silver Mixative by adding drops of the alcohol inks to a plastic cup and swirling the baubles around until they were coloured and leaving them to dry on kitchen towel.
I added the pearls to the base and woodland trees using Distress Collage Medium Matte, left to dry overnight and added a generous layer of Distress Grit Paste on the base.
I die-cut the stars from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Metallic 3 using Sizzix Radiant 3D Impresslits

I die-cut the adorable elf and parcels from white card and Tim Holtz Idea-ology Metallic Confections and Metallic 3 using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Santa's Helper Thinlits. I die-cut the elf 10 times from white card and layered so that he would stand up. I fixed him in place using my hot glue gun and added Distress Grit Paste around his foot and the bauble on his hat for added support.
added a parcel to his hands and extra parcels dotted around the scene.
I finished by adding stars die-cut from Idea-ology Metallic 3 using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Swirling Stars Thinlits, Idea-ology Typography, applied Distress Collage Medium Matte randomly on the base and sprinkled with Distress Mica Flakes.
All that was left to do was fix the Idea-ology Tiny Lights to the scene using my hot glue gun and switch on. I can't begin to tell you how beautifully sparkly this is, the camera does not do it justice.
