Simon Says - Floral Frenzy

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

The first challenge of the month means the Design Team are showcasing products from one particular company and this month it's the turn of Prima Marketing. You don't have to use their products to enter the challenge but if you have them in your stash, we would love to see you using them.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Cristina Moriggi aka Rosso Papavero into the Designer Spotlight and if you haven't visited her blog before, you are in for a real treat.

the theme this week is
FLORAL FRENZY
I created a card using Prima Salvage District Paintables with Distress Oxide Sprays, Tim Holtz Halftone Layering Stencil with Prima 3D Matte Gel to create the background and added Prima Flowers from my stash with Prima Art Stones as the flower centres.

I began by trimming a page from Prima Marketing Paintables Salvage District Pad to measure 4" x 6". Paintables are 6" x 6" sheets of watercolor paper featuring prints in a white resist finish and a black print which can be used with watercolor pencils, pastels and other mediums. I chose to use a print with a white resist. I applied Art Basics 3D Transparent Matte Gel randomly on the panel using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Halftone 3 Layering Stencil which will be shipping in March.
I spritzed the panel with water and sprayed Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Spray
I sanded a scrap of Tim Holtz BlackOut KraftStock to reveal the kraft core and painted another with Prima Opal Magic Green Gold Acrylic Paint and die-cut using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Garden Greens Thinlits.
I found a large bag of Prima Flowers in my stash, added a blob of Distress Collage Medium to the centres, sprinkled with Prima Art Stones and set aside to dry.
I sprayed a scrap of Distress Watercolor card with Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray, stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Tiny Text inked with Black Soot Distress Archival and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine Clear Embossing Powder.
I don't know about you but I can't cut a straight line for toffee, so I used my new best friend, the Nested Banners die from Simon Says Stamp to do the job. I fixed the flowers and the Garden Greens die cuts in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive and added splatters of White Gesso and the Opal Magic Green Gold paint.
I edged the sentiments with a Black Soot Distress Marker and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.

I matted the panel on to white card, fixed to a 4.3/4" x 6.3/4" Brown Classic KraftStock panel and adhered to a 5" x 7" white card blank.

  2. Such a wonderful card Kath! I love the color combo, with the black and the warm neutral shades. Beautiful background and a great idea to use the art stones as flower centers.
