Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
and the theme for this week is...
INSPIRED BY MUSIC
I created an Art Journal page dedicated to my morning musical alarm call which makes sure I start each day with a song. Not the radio, I hasten to add, which I could switch to mute and snuggle up for another half hour, but the more persistent Mother Nature's dawn chorus and the chubby little thrush who exercises his vocal cords outside my bedroom window every morning. I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Field Notes and Music and Advert, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Feathered Friends, Media Marks and Alphanumeric Tiny Type Upper and Lower Thinlits.
The plan was to create a simple, white space page, something I struggle with but hey I think I pulled it off despite having to retreat to the kitchen several times throughout the process, to help me resist that urge to throw everything at it.
I began by trimming Dina Wakley Cotton Watercolor paper to fit my Dina Wakley Media Journal. I inked the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Field Notes with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink and stamped the first image on to the Cotton Watercolor panel and all the images on to masking paper. I trimmed out the images from the masking paper, masked off the first image, stamped the rest of the images, masking off each one as I went. Once all the images were stamped and masked, I stamped the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Music and Advert background and removed all the masks.
I smooshed Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink on to my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water, picked up the colour on a piece of acetate and transferred to the panel. I repeated the process with Antique Linen, Wilted Violet and Fossilized Amber, drying each colour before moving on to the next.
To create the illusion of depth, I used a Distress Detailer Brush with Walnut Stain Distress ink to paint around the images, fading the colour out with water.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Media Marks Thinlits from Idea-ology Classic Kraftstock and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte along with some stray strands from the edge of the burlap page in the journal.
I added splatters of Ground Espresso Distress Paint and die-cut the bird from Distress Watercolor paper using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Feathered Friends Thinlits, coloured with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress inks using a mini round blending tool. I fixed the bird in place with Tim Holtz.Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive and added highlights with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.
I stamped the Music and Advert background inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink on the facing page and coloured in the same way.
I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to the back of Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and a Sticky Grid sheet to the front which held the Alphanumeric Tiny Type Upper and Lower Thinlits in place, preventing them from jumping around.
I die-cut the letters, peeled back the adhesive carrier sheet and placed on strips of left over Cotton Watercolor paper.
I trimmed the words, fixed to the page with Distress Collage Medium Matte and created shadows using Walnut Stain Distress ink and a Distress Detailer Brush.
