Simon Says - A Day At The Beach

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
A DAY AT THE BEACH
I created an Art Journal page in my Dylusions Media Journal featuring Theodore, that fun loving bear who has just been for a dip in the sea and is looking for a spot to lay down on his beach towel, soak up the sun and listen to his favourite music. I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Theodore Colorize, Winter Wardrobe, Circle Play and Alphanumeric Lower and Number Shadow Thinlits along with Stampers Anonymous Rays and Scales Layering Stencils, Distress Paints and Distress Embossing Glazes.

I began by cutting a mask to fit across the bottom of the pages, pounced on Distress Paints Broken China, Speckled Egg and White Gesso using a baby wipe and used the Distress Splatter Brush to add splatters using the remaining Broken China Paint. I applied Mustard Seed Distress Paint through Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Rays Layering Stencil using a small piece of Ranger Cut 'n Dry. I fixed small sections of Idea-ology Aviary Collage Paper in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte using only sections with music notes. I applied Speckled Egg Distress Paint through the Scales Layering Stencil, sprinkled randomly with Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
I removed the mask, applied a coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint and once it had dried, spread Ranger Opague Texture Paste over this section with my finger, sprinkled with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Glazes and heat set. Because I didn't wait for the Texture Paste to dry before heating, it bubbled and distorted leaving behind a more textured effect. I fixed felt to cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheets, die-cut using the Theodore Colorize Thinlits. Once assembled, I die-cut the eyes, nose and eyebrows from scraps of Idea-ology BlackOut Kraftstock and Distress Watercolor card and used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink with Ranger Cut 'n Dry to add shadowing around the edges. To create his towel, I cut a strip of Distress Watercolor Card, applied Speckled Egg Distress Oxide through the Stripes Shifter Layering Stencil and added the fringes cut from the ends of the scarf from Winter Wardrobe Thinlits. To add more interest in the background and more colour to the scarf, I applied White Gesso through the Speckles Layering Stencil, Black Soot and Mustard Seed Distress Oxides through the Numeric and Halftone Mini Layering Stencils from Set 48.
I coloured Distress Watercolor card with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink, die-cut the sun and circle for the sentiment using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Circle Play Thinlits and added the smiley face die-cut from Idea-ology BlackOut Kraftstock. I die-cut the words using the same card stock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Shadow Lower and Number Thinlits and fixed them in place using Distress Collage Medium Matte. I add Specimen Remnant Rubs to the large sun. I die-cut the headphones from Distress Watercolor Card coloured with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink and silver Idea-ology Metallic Kraftstock and the greenery sprigs from Winter Wardrobe from scraps of Idea-ology Classic Kraftstock. I spread Distress Collage Medium Matte across the sand section with my finger and sprinkled with Prima Mini Art Stones.
