Simon Says - Spooky/Halloween

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
SPOOKY/HALLOWEEN
I created an Art Journal page, an invitation to all trick and treaters to visit The Count in his creepy confections garden, if they dare. I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix The Count, Festive Bouquet and Small Tattered Florals Thinlits, Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Deco Arch Layering Stencil with Distress Crackle Texture Paste, Distress Grit Paste, Tim Holtz Distress Mica Stains and Distress Mica Crayons to add some spooky shimmer and Idea-ology Halloween Confections for the flower centres.

I began by applying Distress Crackle Texture Paste through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Deco Arch Layering Stencil on to a 5" x 7" panel of Distress Watercolour card and once the paste had dried, I spritzed the panel with Distress Mica Stains, Flickering Candle, Hocus Pocus Bubbling Cauldron and Crooked Broomstick. I tapped the texture paste areas with a damp paper towel to remove some of the colour. I stamped the branch image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mr Bones, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival. I carefully applied Distress Collage Medium to the texture paste areas using a small brush so as not to re-activate the mica stains on the background, randomly scribbled with  Flickering Candle, Hocus Pocus and Bubbling Cauldron Distress Mica Crayons to add more colour and shimmer and blended into the detail with my fingers
I covered a speech bubble that I found in my stash with Sizzix Neutral card, performed some surgery on the sentiment stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Life Of The Party to make it fit and stamped, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival. I stamped the cobweb image from the same stamp set randomly around the edges to add some interest. I like to keep small sentiment images unweeded on my stamp sets which means that I was able to replace the cut apart stamps snugly back in place. I applied Distress Grit Paste randomly around the edges of the panel, the stamped speech bubble and an Ideaology Metal Gate and set aside to dry.
I had intended to paint the Distress Paint with Black Gesso but decided instead to tint Distress Grit Paste with Black Soot Distress Paint and apply over the existing paste to create more texture.
I scribbled Hocus Pocus, Flickering Candle and Bubbling Cauldron Distress Mica Crayons on to scraps of Idea-ology Black KraftStock and smoothed out with my finger.
I die-cut using the flowers using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Small Tattered Florals Thinlits and the foliage using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Bouquet Thinlits and shaped using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Shaping Kit.
I added Idea-ology Halloween Confections fixed in place with hot glue.
I die-cut The Count and bats from Sizzix Neutral and Idea-ology Classic KraftStock card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix The Count Thinlits
I scribbled over the Grit Paste around the edges and on the Idea-ology Metal Gate with Bubbling Cauldron and Flickering Candle Distress Mica Crayons and rubbed in to the detail with my finger. I fixed The Count and speech bubble in place with foam adhesive to create dimension.
I added the Metal Gate, flowers and foliage fixed in place with hot glue. I painted the page in my Dina Wakley Blue Media Journal with Black Gesso, matted the panel on to Sizzix Neutral card, fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium and added Idea-ology Snarky Small Talk Stickers.
