One Eye On The Calendar...

Hi folks...crikey we're halfway through September already and there's no getting away from it...Christmas is just around the corner...(only 100 days away if I've got the maths right)...now that is one scary thought. I'm knee deep in kitting for The Retreat at The Papeterie which is less than 2 weeks away and even scarier...in 6 weeks' time I'll be donning my Fiskars hat again and heading for the NEC...blimey for someone who normally doesn't know or care to be honest which day of the week it is...life in the cubbyhole is suddenly ruled by the calendar.
And with no new stuff that I can share with you...I've had to dig into the archives. Over the next few days I'll be posting some "MEN" cards...the ones I made for the "Cards and Crafts for Christmas 2014" book....the cards that always seem to send us crafters into a bit of a spin...
No frilly flouncy or glittery stuff allowed so I looked out my favourite Fiskars Fuse Die...the gorgeous Snowflake and set to work to create a modern contemporary card with lots of masculine texture...
a bit of embossing...hessian...woven paper and Eclectic Elements to create texture and circles punched from Tim Holtz Merriment Paper Stash to add a pop of colour...
I'll be back tomorrow to share another "for the boys" card

Blooming Marvellous...

Hi folks...isn't it great that the weather's taken a turn for the better again...a bit of an Indian Summer but in my neck of the woods it's unlikely to be breaking any records in the temperature department...just pleasantly warm and comfortable...perfect for doing some tidy up work in the garden. I'm a real outdoor person and despite the craft stuff piling up...I've been treating myself to some relaxing time off sitting in the sun and raiding the fridge for an alfresco lunch...
and Mother Nature never ceases to amaze...after days of relentless rain the flowers in the garden were in a sorry looking state but after 2 or 3 days of sunshine they've made a blooming marvellous recovery and are pointing their heads towards the sun again...
the hydrangea that hasn't flowered since I pruned it back 2 years ago (apparently that's a big NO NO) has also made a miraculous recovery...
and my favourite hanging basket resident of 2014 must be this gorgeous Fuschia coloured Petunia with petals like velvet...
I've decided to close the "Cards and Crafts for Christmas" Give-Away at 8pm tonight...busy busy week kicking off on Monday and you know me and my memory so I'll announce the winner tomorrow...get it parcelled up for the Post Office run first thing Monday.

Just For You from Fiskars...

Hi folks...I've got my Fiskars hat on again...sharing a "Coffee Break" Project I made for this month's issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft...a bright summery gift bag using the...
I seem to have a bit of an addiction for decorating Gift Bags at the moment...a large blank canvas to work on and it fitted perfectly with the large flowers from this die...the Kraft bags are from the Papermania Bare Basics Range...great value at £2.50 for 5...available from The Papeterie and the papers I used are from the Maisie's Garden Collection Paper Pack...the free gift that came with Issue 43 of Simply Homemade...
with a bit of stamping and doodling to finish it off
It seems we're in for a few days of Indian Summer weather and the cubbyhole crew intend to take full advantage and just chill out in the sunshine.
See you all tomorrow
